Z/28 vs Red Devil

Don't know if this has been talked about but wonder how the Z/28 will stack up against the Red Devil. Hot Rod needs to hook that up.

It would be close but I think the Red Devil would slightly edge out the Z/28 (at Gingerman).
The Red Devil should beat the Z/28 on tracks that have long straights due to its higher horsepower and lighter weight. However, the Z/28 would probably be slightly quicker on tracks with a lot of turns and short straights. I'd love to see a Red Devil and Z/28 comparison in the future since Stielow was involved with the development of the Z/28.

At the 2013 OUSCI finals @ Spring Mountain, Mark Stielow ran his latest Camaro weapon, arguably a more able piece than the Red Devil. And Danny Popp ran the 2010 Lingenfelter L28, which wore tires not likely as grippy as the Trofeos. Kyle Tucker of Detroit Speed ran a less-powerful MAST-prepped LS7 '12 Camaro. Popp was 1st in the Hot Lap Challenge, while Kyle was 2nd and Stielow was 4th. (Both Gen-5 Camaros are of unpublished weight)
Based on Red Devil's 1:39-and-change @ GingerMan, I suspect a Z/28 will at least match that time. After all, the Z/28 was several seconds quicker than the ZL1 @ MPG... http://www.streetlegaltv.com/event-c...-new-champion/ |

The zl1 was 2.5 seconds slower than red devil @ gingerman which is slightly less than 2 miles long. Z/28 could possibly be 2.5 seconds faster than the zl1 and match the red devils lap time. I think it make for a very cool comparison. |

Goodyears on the ZL1 are 220-rated, btw.... I'm sure someone will take the Z/28 to GingerMan and run a sub-1:40...handily. The Pedders Camaro did that, back in '09 on 305/19 Bridgestones...with more weight AND power but less grip and brakes. Last edited by LOWDOWN; 02-10-2014 at 09:02 PM. |

Lowdown, I think your referring to mayhem? I would like to see a mayhem-red devil-z/28-zl1 shootout not gonna happen though
I missed your point on tires which is a good one. Lots of factors here. Last edited by Moreno1; 02-11-2014 at 12:10 AM. |
