2010 L99 RJT/Black
Come on in, grab a cold one, have fun and welcome to my lounge.
2010 L99 is a 2010 2SS/RS L99 RJT built Dec 21st, 2009 (#79949) with black interior, sunroof and polished wheels. One caveat - this will not be a $50k-$100k, $30k-$50k drivetrain, drag-only car or 600hp+ build. I actually drive my car daily, except for rain and snow, and don't leave it with builders for months for a $30k upgrade. I say that because I don't want to waste anyone's time for those only looking for journals with those kinds of builds. 1. A friendly reminder that rules of the Camaro5 forum apply here and everywhere. 2. Be Respectful (see Rule 1). 3. Have fun while you're here! First Some Background
When the fifth Gen's were announced five years ago I liked their look but didn't really give much thought of owning one. After looking at the marketing information I knew that if I ever got one I'd get a 2SS and hopefully it would be an ABM. I'd already owned a 69 RS that was a garage queen and used to have a 1977 silver one that I took to Iceland when I was stationed there but I wasn't what you'd call a Camaro fanatic by any stretch like so many here.
In fact, after the initial announcement in 2006, I didn't think about them much other than when I started seeing them on the roads a couple of years ago. My family accused me of having 2010 Camaro radar because I could see one coming and going way before they did. That all changed earlier this year thanks to an email from Chevrolet announcing the ZL1. That email piqued my interest so I looked at the ZL marketing information and then began looking on the 2010 and 2011 models. The more I looked the more I was hooked and my research began with finding this great site. I was immediately disappointed to learn the ABM wasn't offered anymore. I looked for used ones but wasn't willing to pay the $5k markup the few used ones I found were being offered for. I love the color but when it comes down to it it's still just another color so it wasn't worth $5k to me. Feb 13th, 2011 - I joined this site and began reading everything I could about this car. The problems, the good-bad-and ugly, members cars, upgrades, parts, etc. Just like many of you have done I'm sure. I continued my research spending several hours per day, and about a week later decided I was ready to purchase one. Feb 19th, 2011 - My first PM here was to Becky about ordering a new 2011. I asked if she honored Zag pricing and she said she would check and get back to me the following week. I never heard back from her but it was probably a good thing because I started to learn I could save about $5-$6k if I was willing to settle for one the new 2010 leftovers. My research continued for several more weeks as I began narrowing my choices to car color and options. I wasn't attached to a certain color but I've never owned a white painted car and knew I wasn't going to buy white or an LS3. There's too much stop and go traffic for my downtown commute and VA hills isn't like driving in FL where I grew up. Mar 7th, 2011 - Since there were only a few 2010s around here that were either white or LS3's or both, I emailed several dealers within 150 miles of here about their remaining 2010s and made them what I considered reasonable offers. After several emails I finally agreed to purchase the L99 RJT (for $5200 under sticker) located at Easton Chevy, MD. Mar 11th, 2011 - Drove to Easton, MD and picked up the car and brought her home. Some of you have asked for pictures of my 69 RS 383 stroker and my 1996 Impala SS DCM LT1. I also included one of my Triton TR-21X.

March 18th - After researching various headers and exhaust and listening to dozens of clips I decided on the Kooks 1 7/8, Kooks Street Sleeper catback and CAI intake and placed my order with http://marylandspeed.com/chevy-camaro-2010-c-1240.html. Everything arrived March 22nd except for the headers which are still at JetHot getting coated.

April 1st - Nano-Fusion paint protection installed by http://www.carpretty.net/
You can't see it except for very up close. When I first looked the car over when picking it up she (installer) had to point out where the lines were. Last edited by 2010 L99; 04-03-2011 at 04:59 PM. |

Thank you Jim. I'm still speechless seeing all the superb 5th Gen's here. If mine becomes just a micron of what many here have become I'll be a happy camper.

Received my personalize plates (MUSSCLE) yesterday. Only took 10 days and $20 (not $65 as some have posted), and will probably be the best bang for the buck I'll spend on this car.
PAS still has my car for the headers, exhaust, CAI and tune so I'll post pics either tomorrow evening or over the weekend. |
