Air Induction Systems... K&N or CAI

I'm going to do this for my next mod, I'd like to hear from owners of both pro & con for each. The K&N is less expensive. Also for CAI why is the powdercoated one more expensive than the chrome one? Usually its the other way around.
Thanks in advance!

I was always a KandN guy. but when it came time to buy I didnt like the quailty of the unit. Dont get me worng its very functional but the C.A.I just looked better and with the ADM scoop and the sealed box really sold it for me. Not to mention that the C.I.A is a single bent tube, unlike the Roto-Fab. (Not saying anything about Roto)

I went the C.A.I. and love it... Looks killer, sounds great, and like I said one peice design and sealed air box.

About the color options the black is more $... You could always buy the reg. one and if you want you can have it painted later.

Ive got the KnN typhoon... unfortunately I don't have the exhaust upgraded yet to get the full effect, but I like it so far. It was easy to install, looks good and so far the sound was a pretty decent improvement over stock. I really didn't notice much in the way of throttle response, but then again, I put it in within 3 weeks of buying the car, so I haven't really gotten on it. As for the looks, I liked the polished pipe on the KnN and I painted the box/shield to match the car, being a SW car, the white box and black seal matched well, and I actually like the overall look better than my friends CAI.

INJEN or Airaid - my opinion. There is a thread already comparing the dyno results...

I had the K&N and I loved it! Have always used them in all my cars, even my bike! I sold mine to a buddy and he is enjoying it! Would still have it but switched to the Vararam to help my cam breath a little better!!!!! Ha Ha!

I would go with Roto-Fab also (and I did). Very satisfied with the look and the results. Also no CEL, like I have heard people getting from the other CAI's.

We carry both (and many other) systems but the CAI Inc system is a far better designed system and it shows on the dyno. The CAI Inc system is a true sealed air box that locks out the hot air inside the engine compartment and allows the engine to breath in only cool dense air from outside. The air box is also insulated and the entire system is ceramic coated to prevent heat from being absorbed.

As for the price difference, the ceramic coated only has one "secondary process" performed on it. The ceramic coating. The black system gets ceramic coated and then goes back to get black powder coated, so it is has two processes performed on it. Simply put, it is more expensive to manufacture.
