Installing a 5 point harness
Has anyone installed a 5 point harness and kept the factory Recaros? I'm thinking about going to an upholstery shop and having the lower seat cut and modified so the center anchor point is correct. This should prevent the submarining effect to my pelvis if involved in an incident. Just curious how you all have attacked these seats.
Thanks, Jason |

Yup, use a sub plate in the back on the floor, and run the 5th point between the upper and lower portion of the seat.

I've seen 5-points with the lower seat cut and retrimmed as you describe. It looked great! I'm on a flight to Hong Kong at the moment but as soon as I'm back on my laptop I'll post a couple of pictures..

This is what I did. BK bar, made my own tank plate that the sub strap attaches to and run that strap through. Not technically correct but I feel good about it and it keeps the buckle in the correct place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Finally in Taiwan after 14hrs of travelling! Got hotel wifi now though so here you go:
These were done by LeftCoast32 in California and are nothing to do with me. However I've been thinking hard about doing the same (it's either that or replace the seats for dedicated motorsport fixed buckets). Step 1 - strip the seat down: Step 2 - create hole for 5th point belt. Get suitable trim for seat base: Step 3 - cut seat foam base and re-assemble: They also added a bar under the seat to attach the 5th point anchor to. All done: Looks good I think |

Thanks for the info. I ordered my Corbeau plastic guides like the pictures posted above. for the 5th belt. I called the guys at Left Coast 32. They were super nice, if I lived closer I'd they would be getting my business. I can't wait til they get here so I can get started.
