TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor) Relearn Tool ???

Here below is the copy-paste from 2012 Camaro Owners Manual about reseting your Tire Press Sensors once you changed the position of tires.

The sensors are
matched to the tire/wheel positions,
using a TPMS relearn tool, in the
following order: driver side front tire,
passenger side front tire, passenger
side rear tire, and driver side rear.
See your dealer for service or to

purchase a relearn tool.

So, how much does it costs, how it works? I thought you don't need any tools to reset Tire Pressure Monitor. Why all that procedure, from driver side front to rear, if you need a tool? As I know, pressure sensor in each tire should react to press change, and that's how the TP Monitor should relearn about new position of tires?

Well I know my 2010 you just hold the center button on the turning signal stick to relearn tire pressure. But on other gm vehicles I know you need to place the key in the ignition press the lock and unlock n the remote at the same time till you hear a beep and fill or release5 pounds from the driver front passenger front passenger rear and then drivers rear in that order. Then you need to put them at the right psi. Idk if it's like any of these two n the 2012. Hope these two suggestions help you

dealers use it to charge you an hour labor

they hold the device (which looks like an old palm pilot or a speed-gun) to each tire as the car communicates with the device...kind of freaky actually lol

but if you find out where to buy one please do share: i change tires sets twice a year for the seasons and therefore have to recalibrate each time (since i made the wise...hmm.. decision to pay extra for tpms on ALL the sets)

Obviously we have a different manuals. Mine says you need a tool. Your's doesn't. Mine is 2012, yours?
So, I understand a process of relearning which sensor is positioned where (in case you move right tire to left or vice versa), which is what it basicaly is. Thing I don't understand is why manual says I need a damn tool to do it if car can do it itself?
Basicaly, when I start relearn process, I should change pressure in one by one tire starting from front left and continuing clockwise. TP monitor reacts on sensor where pressure had been changed and sets it accordingly. On the last tire in cycle (rear left) i should hear 2 beeps and that's it, relearning done.

WTF do I need a tool for?

Anybody knows?

For the 2012's GM changed the software and you can not re-learn the tire sensors like you can the 2010-2011's. You need to either take it to a dealer or buy the relearn tool. It's been posted on this forum before.

Its easier with the tool but you do NOT need it. Just follow the manual.

Glad you said it Rudy bc i was pretty disappointed when I bought the TPMS with the tire/rim combo from tire-rack in a snow tire set up - guess now I can try it for myself
