Want your car to smell good [on the outside too?]

Want your car to smell good [on the outside too?]

Use a scented body wash. [Won’t strip wax]

I use Axe Phoenix body wash to wash my car, smells great when you walk by for days.

A quick google search and I found that its a pH of 4 (acidic = not balanced) so it will actually strip wax... aside from just being bad advice.

I well tested it before posting the info, have washed the car a good dozen times and is still well waxed.

Oh how do I know, its 1yr old paint that I just waxed for the first time 2 months ago. I know the difference.

This isn't really an item for debate... the fact is anything + or - a pH level of 7 is going to degrade wax to some degree. The farther off of neutral it is the more it will strip. Axe bodywash appears to be a pH of 4 according to all the info I can find online, making it acidic and thus meaning its stripping your wax whether you choose to believe it is or not.

Either way, if it keeps you happy then thats all that matters.

I use Adam's products, makes my car smell like bubble gum and grape soda (bonus points if someone can guess which products I use most based off of those two smells)

The bubble gum would be from the detail spray just before drying.....I washed my car for the first time today with Adams products.

We can agree onthis maybe.

When you don't have reg car wash on hand, folks often make the mistake of using dish soap that will strip a car clean to the paint in one washing.

So you use something less harsh like shampoo for a quick home wash.

I got tons of this body wash as they toss it in free all the time with deodorant.

But nice side effect is a clean car that smells good.

Id be glad to see how many washes it takes to lose the wax if you wish, being the first coat, it should be thin, though had planned to wax it again this week since its nice out.

This is a black car so you know I wash it often.....

Wait lets do some home science.

Oh I just did my hood; it had never been waxed as I had planned to do this skull bed liner trick to it for added texture. And I just waxed it a few days ago and some wax got on the bed liner of course. Real easy to see. [did think about waxing the whole thing to protect liner from UV]

Any ways that wax is fresh, only washed once, I can put a whole blob of that wash, maybe thinned a little with water and leave it in that spot for 24-36 hours, ill scrub it hard when I wash it off and we can see if it goes away any.

Should be equally to many many washes and see if it strips wax in any ammout that you should even worry.

[wax is turtle wax color match black, have always used it on my black cars, new or old paint]
