I would make it known that I want the entire assembly changed out not just the fabric portion. Can't act Brandon of customer service if you haven't already and give him your dealer info. Maybe he can speed things up. Dealers sometimes don't know how to request the correct repair or how to get things done faster.

I am thinking about getting a vert, I was just wondering all these problems are they all on black tops or the other colors having the same issues. Especially rub marks.

UPDATE: I went and looked at the top today and it looks great. They had the old one on the ground next to it and I was able to compare the mechanism. When the dealer first installed it he checked the mechanism and it looked like the new design. However there is a still a point my dealer felt could create a rub mark. He followed the TSB and ground it down a bit more, painted it and covered it with tape just to make sure.

We then took it for a drive with no wind noise whatsoever. They are keeping it overnight tonight to work on one other small issue. While they have it they are going to pressure test the top for water leaks, but I expect it to pass that test.

I will update everyone on the weekend once I have it home.

I've been asking for the entire thing to be replaced since day one of the problem, the day I BOUGHT THE CAR. There was a hole in the roof sitting on the lot. They even gave me a "We Owe Slip" for the top. Unfortunately, since I bought it before the total mechanism replacement I am now fighting to have it replaced. Unbelievable. We're looking for a replacement car for my daughter, her 2011 Cruze was totaled in a flash flood. We're waiting on this one to see if we'll ever buy another GM car. I'm on top #3, it's at the dealer now for a bad water leak from the water management system. I've PM'd Brandon on this to intervene and get the right part ordered this time. We'll see. The dealer has been great, but I am told they are not getting "Authorization" to have the entire thing replaced. I think it's high time to get it right, not?

I know there are some lawyers on here. First how long has GM known there is a problem with the tops on these cars. If they have known about the problem wouldn't this come under the deceptive trades act. When they sold you the car they knew there was a top problem but didn't disclose it to you at that time. If it does then don't GM have to pay you triple what you paid for that car?

Well, the problems were known in 2011 with the 2011 models. I saw some posts going back to March of last year. I thought they would have it fixed by the time my 2012 order rolled around. Mine was made on 7/26/11 and delivered on 8/4/11. By 9/29/11 my top was replaced. Let's see if an attorney will jump in and give everyone a heads up.

And then there are the "Implied Warranties" which vary from state to state. You don't necessarily need to "lemon" the car - in most cases you loose $$ doing that anyway. The top is "Implied" to work properly, and in this case it's the damn roof of the car, which isn't by any stretch working in many cases.

Does anyone know if and when the 2012 models changed the design of the top. I am about ready to trade for a 2012 and wanted to know after what date or VIN number I should look for.

All i can tell you is that they removed a full roof assembly off of a 2012 and put it on my 2011. Still getting the rub marks and even more wrinkles.
