Won’t Start unless shifted thru gears

I need some help...

I’ve recently helped a buddy of mine do a engine replacement on his 2011 V6 LLT with the 6 speed automatic transmission.

The job was completed flawlessly or at least as thought. The car started up, drove and was fine for weeks. All of a sudden he said it wouldn’t start. I went over to his place, tried to start it, nothing. Then I shifted the gears from Park - Manual Mode and then back to park. After this it starts...

The next day it didn’t start again... I tried checking the fluid levels, adjusting the shifter rod from the trans to the shifter lever. It started again. Then the same symptoms happened again. This has been going on for a little over month or so now. There is no check engine light at all nor are there any codes processing on the OBD scanner.

Should I check the valve body?

Is there a solenoid/sensor I should check that engages park?

Anybody have any advice or input?

Thank you for the input, ill look into that. Hopefully I don’t have to drop the trans oil pan. I’m prepared to though I’m case it’s necessary.

I did the wiggling in park and I heard what sounded like a solenoid going on and off as if it was engaging park and it did it repetitively.
