annoying sound when braking

Guys ive been having this problem since my friends and i put my winter wheels on. Ive been hearing this flat tire-like sound whenever i step on my brakes(and no, i dont have flat tires). It sounds like "tug - tug - tug -tug " if u guys know what im saying. I cant really pin point where its comming from but im pretty sure its comming from the front. Ive went to pepboys to let them check whats up and just told me thers no problems at all because thats how it supposed to sound with the wheels i have ryt now (moda 18 inch wheels). Then lately i kinda hear the sound now too when accelerating. Also, ive been feelin some vibrations too on the steering wheel and the sounds wen i brake got a bit louder and scarier too. I havnt had this problems wen i had my 20's. Anyone knows whats causing this?

It looks to me that your rotor is rubbing on the wheel to make that groove. A couple of questions. Do you have a upgraded brake package? Larger that factory rotors? If I was you I wouldn't drive it like that. All it would take is hitting a pot hole at the right speed to crack that wheel. I'd put the 20" wheels back on for safety reasons.

Something that cut that big of a groove should be easy to spot somewhere.

That is not safe at all. That is not just a line, that's a grove being cut into the wheel. Take off a wheel and check your brake calipers. As stated above, it should be easy to spot. Depending on how deep the groove is, those wheels may be trashed. Put your other wheels back on until you get this sorted out.

lol, Maybe that's a bad pic, but if in fact you have a big old groove in your rims, you might be right with your assumption that this is not normal.

Pretty sure GM did not design our Camaros to work as a dremel tool.

This looks like the top of the roller skates are now acting as a bench grinder into your wheels. Park that car immediately. It's not safe to drive and you're going to end up hurting yourself, or worse, someone else.

If you don't have the Brembos, then another user has suggested that the rotors are cutting into the wheel. I would certainly begin checking that next.

The root cause should be incredibly easy to spot given the grooves that are now cut into those wheels.

Is it the rotor that's cutting it? Then probably only the rotor... which probably doesn't matter as your rim is being cut.

Is it still cutting it? Your rim might be compromised???

dude, i swear i checked the clearance for the calipers and rotors, and thers ALOT of room for the rotors and "OK" room for calipers. so im really wondering whats hitting the rim. im thinking about when the car bounces while driving but i really have no ideaaaa
