I had an old Chevy Tahoe with a bad gas gauge. I ran out of gas 3 times and never had a problem with the fuel pump, sludge or any of the issues theorized. Once was with my front tires at the gas station entrance, once with a gas can already in the back, and get this, the third time a man on a Harley had a one gallon container in his bags. I owe him one for sure. Once the low light comes on in the camaro I know there is well over 30 minutes of driving available.

I daily drive mine, and a tank lasts about about 2 weeks, working 5 days a week and 2 extra trips. I'll have about 100km (about 60 miles) range left according to the computer. Usually around 1/8-1/4 tank left. I just don't like filling it up all the time. I'm also not worried because I pass by 7 gas stations on my way to work, 4 are 24 hours. I also fill it up regardless of how much is left whenever I leave the city, and fill up when I get to half a tank on a road trip.

I fill up every Friday regardless of what my gauge says. If I'm on a long trip, I fill it when the low fuel warning comes on.

I always wait until the light comes on. Full tank lasts two weeks then I fill up with 93 octane. Never less than $40-45 bucks.

I usually wait for the low fuel message then start looking for a top tier station. your really guessing going past the fuel message because no mileage distance is shown on the driver information center.
