Wow the 335i is fast!
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93664
I was actually looking for some info on the recent engine failures in the new 3-series and stumbled upon their drag-times compilation. Holy Moses that car is fast! Most folks reporting low-to-mid 12's with quick reprogramming and some tires! I hope the SS is ready because the competition is FIERCE right now! ~LSx

...and really expensive!
Starting at just over $40,000, I'd say that's out of the Camaro's class. Now if there was a Z28... And knowing BMW, you'll be lucky if it comes with floor mats. I'm sure with packages and accessories, you'll hit $50,000 easily. |

That's a great car for sure!
One of my buddies wants a new M3. I want the new SS. When we're back in one place for a visit, we're going to take it to the track. It's a whole new rivalry for Chevrolet. I expect to win.

If you like the 335i's numbers you can only expect the 135i to be better. Same engine, rear end, suspension (I think) etc etc, about 200lbs or more lighter, cheaper (although a little less luxury) it will be a pretty good competitor as well. However I will say, I haven't heard the best about either of their reliabilty, and for me it is a big issue because the nearest BMW dealer is 300-odd miles away.

color me unimpressed... mostly because my 2002 Z28 ran a 13.407 with the traction control on... and ran in the 12.984-13.205 range on a regular basis with the ASR off... and stickered for $27k back in December of 2001... so this BMW seems to be, to me, the same slow BMW that its always been... feels alot faster than it is.

apparently it is due to how crappy the exchange rate is on the dollar.

Stock 335i's do the 1/4 in 13.5 or so.
Stock 135i's do the 1/4 in 13.3 or so. If you tune/chip the N54 bi-turbo engine you will probably have problems. And BMW is doing ALOT with comp programs to find out if the car has been chipped. I was 99.9% SURE I was getting a mostly loaded 135i manual next spring. BUT after reading many problems with the HP fuel pumps among other problems, I decided to get an SS/RS LS3 instead. |

Here is why i think BMW is retarded.
DID YOU KNOW.... a 135i (30-35k) beats an M3 (55-75K) wayyyyyy off the line, and im pretty sure it wins in the 1/8th mile as well? |
