52K for a 2SS 'vert in Canada...

Just kills me how GM of Canada is not passing on the exchange savings to the consumer. They still are taking the strategy of selling less at higher profit margins rather than more GM vehicles at lower margins. Meanwhile they have lost market share here and wonder why. Have they even bothered looking at how the Europeans have been pricing their cars in Canada lately?

That strategy is going to bite them square in the ass and GM dealers in Canada will be the ones who will lose.

2011 Vert Pricing

I agree it is a shame and not fair but if you wanna play you have to pay in the North. It is unfortunate that Canadians cannot buy brand new vehicles in the US with the current exchange rate and enjoy more savings.

We are offering internet pricing discount of $1000 off List to any potential buyer plus you can get another $1000 off if you own a GM (loyalty discount) which could get the price down to $49,905.

We can. Find a dealer that is willing to deal (plenty of ways around the technicalities of this), get it up here (do the paperwork and ppay the taxes - there are companies that now specialize in this), have it safetied to allow registration and bingo. Sill save anywhere from 10-15% (maybe more if you're willing/able to do some of the work yourself). The biggest problem? Warranty. But, with many people installing blowers etc. mechanical warranties are quickly becoming less of a decision factor.

My point is it can be done and there is money to be saved. But it's inconvenient and it does not support our local dealer network. However the OEMs need to start to recognize that the general public is realizing there is few to no good reasons for the higher prices here.
