Has Chevrolet listed the engine options for the convertible? It sure would be nice to have the same options as the coupes. As someone said earlier, if Ford can do it, Chevy must do it.

No, they won't. Doing so would severely compromise the structure of the car, which is the last thing you want to do when building a 550+ hp car.

After driving a SS convertible (pre-production) at the focus group, I'm not worried about any chassis problems.
So I would think a Z28 Convertible would definitely be an option. But we'll find out soon enough.

Probably the same reason anybody ever wants a convertible. Plus, people tend to feel claustrophobic in the 5th gen, complain about the blind spots, and miss the open air feeling of t-tops. The convertible solves all that, regrardless of what drivetrain and suspension lies underneath.

There is no free lunch. If they reinforce the body to compensate for the lack of roof, its going to be heavier ... which changes the driving dynamics.
