Nitrogen filled tires??
So I bought my new 2014 2SS/RS on July 2 and today I took notice of the tire stem covers.
They say "N2"!?! I didn't know these ties were nitrogen filled??? How cool! Anyone else?

In colder climates, Nitrogen filled tires are a good thing. Nitrogen leaks out of rubber much more slowly than regular air. In warmer climates, like Texas where I am, Nitrogen filled tires are a waste of money. There are a few places that try to sell them down here at $100 a pop.

Nitrogen is good for track performance as the purity of the gas (less moisture, other contaminants) mean less expansion/contraction under extreme temperature conditions. A regular tire filled to 35psi might increase to 41 or so PSI with track use, but when filled with a high purity of N2, would only increase to maybe 37 or 38 psi. N2 and regular air have similar expansion/contraction qualities, but all the other junk in typical compressed air (moisture, contaminants) cause the increased pressure fluctuation.

Pretty cool. I was just surprised to see that. I don't even think the dealer knew about it!

That's insanely cheap! The Jiffy Lube in Lewisville was the one charging $99 for all four tires.

My home compressor can separate N2 out of the air and provide a 78% (not really as efficient as industrial) mix for my tire fills ... what whaaat!!???
