Nitrogen in tires

I was curious how many people out there have put nitrogen in their tires. My dealer recently sold me one getting nitrogen, it's not like it was a huge cost. I was also curious if it's that great. My dealer played it like it was the best thing since sliced bread, but I still always feel a dealer would sell a blind man glasses.

I have it in my Lexus, i didn't buy it though it came with the car. I did notice the tires don't get as hot and that i rarely have to get it refilled.

Nitrogen in mine, tire pressure more consistent doesn't react to heat.
Also no moisture in Nitrogen which can corrode your TPS sensors.

Nice thing to have yes. A great thing I would say not really. Reason being nitrogen tends to have diffrenent properties than air meaning its more expand and there is less chances of it getting through your valve. So meaning you don't have to check it as much. (I still do for percantionary measures)

You can do it yourself actually. All you need is a nitrogen tank a regulator a hose and the valve and a tool called a valve shreader remover. You place the car on a jack so one tire isn't touching the ground and the tire that isn't on the ground you use the tool to remove the shreader to remove all the old air out and once it's out put the shreader back in and fill with nitrogen. Just repeat for the other 3 tires and your done. I actually do it all the time when we used to change cars a lot in the past.

My dealer puts nitrogen in all of it's new vehicles before delivery. They claim it helps the tires run cooler and it helps to maintain the tire pressure better. Unlike compressed air from a pump, nitrogen contains no water. No water means no corrosion or rust to the inside of the wheel.

Rust inside an aluminum wheel, huh. It's a profit center for a dealer. What do you do if you need to add more? You cant refill at the local gas station.

When I bought my Camaro the tires were nitrogen filled and my dealer checks the pressure and refills them whenever I want for free.

You can top off a nitrogen filled tire with regular air. Its not going to hurt anything.

Its actually the TPMS sensor that will rust and die quicker.

The TMPS sensor will probably outlive the motor even in air-filled tires.

How is mixing nitrogen with air (oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases) not recommended?

Nitrogen in mine since day one. My dealer and shop use it all the time. No additional charge. I think it is way more common here in California and other big cities/states.
