valve spring retainer!
This weekend my valve spring retainer decided to give way and shoot the valve down into the head on #4 ext. cylinder. I havnt got it torn down far enough to see if the head is ruined, but it dosnt look to pretty as of now :(

im at 570 to the wheels, and am only pushing 5psi. I got the rpm's set to 6100. But, it gave up just driving home at about 2500 rpm's.

Probably wasn't seated all the way or they used those soft non hardened locks. I had that happen to me one time. It was a nasty mess. Learned my lesson, don't use cheap shit (aimed at me, not you)

this is one of the main reasons why I'm afraid of getting on my Maggie car now in days. I'm still running stock valvetrain parts so I don't know how durable they really are. so far so good.... but then again, I hardly ever beat on my car.

I felt like mine was going to last, but i guess i was wrong. I did some research, and the factory valve terrain on the LS3 and L99 both have some room for improvement. There is quiet a few cases where this has happened. |
