Broken aftermarket gear twice

I hade 4.10 gears and LPW cover installed in our 2010 SS 6 speed Camaro, Cam,headers,CAI, 480rwhp at a local Chevy dealership. At less than 200 miles the gear broke off teeth on both ring and pinion gears. The dealer said it was a bad gear. I called Richmond/Motive trying to get them to take a look at the gear and get their opinion, they said I had to call Texas Speed where I purchased it. After several calls and promises that someone would call me and didnt I just gave up and purchased a 4.33 gear directly from Richmond/Motive and had the Chevy dealership install it again. Agreeing to disagree on what happened They warrantied labor but I had to purchase gear and install kit. With about 400 miles on the gear I had a Procharger installed. 4psi and out of fuel pump it made 580rwhp and we left it alone. With a total of 1000 miles on the 4.33s on street tires and no track time the gears went out again while driving normal.

The dealer wants me to install the factor diff (I have the factory one with 3.45s sitting on a shelf) And see if it holds up, which it did for over 7000 miles at 480rwhp on drag radials.

Bad gear or setup? I say bad setup

Wow!
I'd personally stay away from anything asssociated with Richmond gears.

I had some bad experiences with Richmond gears back in the day and told myself I'd never run them again.

What brand gear should I buy?

Likely bad setups/installs. I've had my Richmond 4.10s for 44K miles with no issues and even made a couple track passes after my cam install (albeit on street tires and conservative launches) . It will be interesting to see how they hold up with my SC added to the mix.

I ran Richmond gears for 2 years, they were fine. They do not hold up well when you hit a certain point. S/C or Stroke is the time to get them out. I would guess you have passed the point of them being reliable. S/C is too much for them to handle. knocking the teeth off is the tell tale sign. Summer teeth. some are here some are there lol
4.10's and supercharged not a good combo.

this is a ls3 ??
if yes drop to 3.73

The 4.33s with 580rwhp is/was really fun. It feels/felt old school and also like it should. With 3.45s it would run 65-67mph in 1st gear at 7100 rpm. Youd have to be on the highway or at the track to go through the gears. I mean its my sons car and I have taught him that things can go wrong quick at 100mph and not to do it. I know hell get on it through 1st gear which im ok with. I have gps on the car and it texts me when he goes over 65 mph. I would like to stay with 4.33s but might have to go back to stock 3.45s, sell the procharger and put on a Turbo or Go with a 4l80 and keep the procharger and 4.33/4.10s.

Mine? Yes. So far, it seems fine. I thought 1st gear would be useless but, so far, that doesn't seem to be the case. When we pulley down, that might change. Also, my tires aren't that sticky, so that may play a roll with how long they hold up as well.

actualy i was aking the op ... i see i quoted your specs .. sorry
but if you are waiting to see what will happen when the S/C is entered into the mix, i can answer that. You will shred them within 1k miles providing you shift hard. I know this firsthand. Do yourself a favor drop to 3.70.

Driving the car with the 4.33 has been way less hard on the drivetrain. Its like driving in ice with street tires, it just spins the tires. Im sure if it ever hooks it wont b pretty. But we were just driving normal when it happened this last time.

Plus one....AAM is the company that makes the OEM gears for GM including the 3.91 1LE gears.

I have the 1LE gears on my blown LS3 and traction is minimal

I personally think 4.10's is way too much for the OP and you would be much happier with the 3.91's.

If GM offered 3.73 gears I would have gone that route being blown as it would probably be perfect.

All in all the 3.91's are very good, quiet, easy to install and no failures reported.

67 did you end up changing the entire differential to the 1LE or do the gear swap?? I am on the fence about selling my 4.11 JRE differential, my 4th gear tops out at 129mph and I am trapping the 1/4 at 125mph.
