2nd Time at the track went much better than the 1st
Last year I went to the track for the first time in my life. I had a lot of fun, meet some really nice people but I did just terrible on the track with my best ¼ mile time of 14.11. I did learn a lot and I made a few changes and I finally got back to the track last night. WOW, what a difference a year makes. After my first run and picked up my time slip and took a look at it I could not believe my eyes, I ran a 13.035 at 107.56. That was more than a second faster than I went last year. I had told my wife when I left for the track I would be very happy to get under 13.5 and now here I was damn near in the 12’s. It took me 3 more runs but I did it, I got a 12.909 at 109.89 and on my 7th and last run of the night I did a 12.895 at 109.34. I had a 2 ½ hour ride home and the permagrin was bigger than ever. Here are my times from last night.
60ft ¼ MPH 1 2.059 13.035 107.56 2 2.045 13.007 107.53 3 2.044 13.003 107.69 4 2.014 12.909 109.89 5 2.014 12.966 108.93 6 2.031 12.929 109.10 7 2.007 12.895 109.34 I was almost able to reduce my 60ft times on each run. Last year the track I went to I was not able to drive around the water box and I was not able to put it to the floor without spinning until I was half way down the track. I also did not let any air out of the tires, I learned later that my right rear tire was wearing really bad on the outside of the tread. I did not have it aligned when I had the BMR trailing arms and toe rods installed. So I had it checked and it was toed out really bad which is why it wore the tire and I had no traction at the track. This year I had the car aligned and I got a set of Nitto NT05’s on the rear. I went to a different track where I could drive around the water box and I lowered the tire pressure down to 26. The first run I only spun the tires enough to clean them off. My last few runs I had turned off all the nannies and did a bigger burnout to put some heat in the tires. I learned so much again and now can’t wait till I can go again. When I left the track last year the next day because I was so disappointed my wife said “I suppose you now need that cam” thinking that I needed more HP. I told her with as much as the tires were spinning, more HP was not the answer. This morning I told her that NOW I need the cam. |

Congrats on the times and good job trouble-shooting the issues that prevented you from getting them before!

Nice job. Keep working on that 60' and 12.6-7's are right around the corner. Better air will help a lot as well.

This was at Great Lakes Dragway, it was my first time there and I was suprised that there were not more cars there. It was just a beautiful day and we won't get many more days like that this year. Was looking forward to seeing some new 5.0s a new Challenger or Charger. I did run an 02 Corvette 5 times and I totally smoked him all 5 times. My buddies won't be teasing me about my times anymore.

Nice what day did you go?
I've gone 1.92 at GLD on P-Zeros and I hope to better my current 1.88 on my Nitto 555's. i doubt I can go next week but hopefully the week after.

I was there Tuesday night and I had not planned on getting back there this year, but you know how that goes. Is it true that there are more people there on a Wednesday or a Thursday? Thursday is slick night, we don't have slicks but would they let us run. I saw the weather tonight and right now they say next Wednesday is supposed to be 75. Thats got me thinking.

I've tended to go Tuesdays and it's been pretty dead. Not sure on Wed, I would rather go Thursdays on slick night if they would let us run on DR's, better traction I'm thinking.
