Thoughts on the deleted 'order info. and consensus"......
I know that someone (...who was most likely 'well meaning' ...) posted some internal documents on order info -- and more importantly -- consensus info. and order status info.
I (you can blame me) asked the moderators to take the information down. Interestingly, I cannot PM the person who posted the information - -as they have blocked PMs.....) I did not take this action to upset anyone -- however, I (and anyone else who works for a publicly owned company) ...am mandated by law to ensure that 'proprietary' and 'privacy' information is not misused. (go read the entire Sarbanes-Oxley act...)(warning -- it's long -- and quite startling when you realize what it says...and what was put into law --) (and I -- for the most part -- heartily agree with the premise of the law...) You are free to go to your dealer and ask for a status update. However, information should not be provided by a third party -- further, our internal memos are, in many respects, confidential. "WELL!!! I have a right to know!" --may be the retort by some.... Well - that could be debated -- but I've been in this business long enough to know that no matter what is posted, it will invariably be "misinterpreted" at best....and completely misunderstood as par for the course......... So -- don't blame the moderators or the webmaster -- you can blame lil ole me...... .....and contrary to popular belief -- this site is not owned by GM -- nor do we make any contributions (other than editorial) to this site - or any other enthusiast site for that matter. We -- (and me especially) DO appreciate your passion and loyalty to the Camaro (and GM..) -- ....We've tried to share unprecedented information with you over the past couple of years -- (and, as you will see by some posts on some sites...to our detriment!....) -- and we want to be as supportive and customer friendly as humanly possible. We want you behind the wheel of your new Camaro -- and we want to see a grin that won't be easily removed.............. There does, however, come a time or event where we must say "OK -- that one was over the line" -- ............and that's what I did. I hope you'll understand............ |

I don't think you should be blamed at all. In any business there is proprietary information. I think people here just get so worked up because of how much they care for this car. Its so easy to forget just how much inside information we get when compared to, literally, any other new car program.
Thanks again for all the updates you continue to give us. -Bart

Thank you -- and I really mean it -- for your post -- and especially for recognizing the fact that we've shared far more information than any company ever has on a product........ No -- we don't deserve an award or anything like that -- it's the right thing to do - but I DO believe some people have lost sight of the fact of just HOW much we've shared -- and your pointing it out is VERY much appreciated! |

Hey Fbodfather, if we cant see it and the info that is on this site is not allowed to be seen by the public, you have all the right to take it down. Fbodfather, I am pretty sure you remember when the white Camaro picture with the black bra in the garage first leaked, people on that picture alone said they did not like the car, but look at it now, people cant stop drooling over the car. So yeah, if you need to do it, then do it. You gotta do what you gotta do. BTW, I hope you are enjoying watching people drool all over the Camaro at the autoshow.

Hi Fad1! You know - I think about that issue daily! -- The white picture leaked and it was simply uncontrollable HAVOC!!!! .............and I said "calm down -- bad picture -- you'll love the car" ........and then we had another panic............. The good news? If people didn't care, no one would get upset -- People get upset when they CARE -- when they have PASSION.......... .............and I guess that John and Cheryl and I just have to jump in now and then and try to calm people down. (altho it DOES become exhausting after a spell.............) Thanks for your insight!!! |

HOWEVER -- ANOTHER dealer giving you that info. is not kosher. Further, the dealer was putting info. on there that could be misconstrued -- not to mention that it's proprietary. If you want to know your status, YOUR dealer can provide that to you. |

So, is there any other way to get our order status (assuming some of our dealers are unresponsive)?
Maybe a third party that is not a dealer? Or directly from GM? Just some place that I can type in my order# and out pops a 4 digit number. If not, I guess I can go without, but the tease just makes the wait worse. |

We should have some type of access to our order status. As you know the vast majority of dealers are absolutely clueless when it comes to this car and to helping us out. We need some way of checking our order status....
What do you all think, and GM, can you do something about it? |

I'm surprised it stayed on as long as it did. Everyone should have got that info from THEIR dealer. It's just too bad there are alot of "bad apples" out there that are giving GM a bad name by not giving their customers info they have a right to. Thanks for explaining it all for those who were upset and unsure to why it was done.
