I remember reading about a guy who went by "Fast355" on several boards who did a lot of work with TPI 305's and various heads (vortecs, 193's and even the TBI heads) and making good power with them. I seem to recall him claiming he was running mid 14's in a full-size Van with it or something like that.

gpskinsnut nice car. Use to be based out of Bradley Airport. Rented a place right down the street from you first in Enfield CT then Lake Congamond when your car was born 87-88 Had some fun times back then. Sorry to stray OT. Back OT It sure looks like it would respond well to a little boost.

I'm curious to see how this all turns out. I've been weighing on either doing a mild 350 (L31) crate engine or swapping some 059's and a vortec TPI base and mild cam on my 305.

770 cfm carb is pretty big for that combo you are doing.

I'm planning on doing a very mild build of my 305 for the 91 1LE. I would like to get to somewhere around 290-305 crank hp. I've owned 2 third gens with 305s and my 1LE was originally a 305 car (hence why I am swapping back to that). Some people think I am crazy for swapping a 350 for a 305, but I would like to get the car back a little closer to original form.

i also think 400 will be max. shaving the heads for the 305 is going to be needed just to keep up the compression to stock unless you are going to be using non dished pistons. that is a smallish cam for that much power in which you are wanting.

you can do a lot with a 305. I have a 305 with dome pistons, alum vette (l98) heads, lunati voodoo series cam, heddman headers, magnaflow catback, stock tpi with stock tune. Took it to the track with crappy street tires and horrible reaction times I ran a 14.8. I figure if i get it tuned properly should pick up a few tenths also along with some practice at the track wouldnt hurt. lol
Keep us updated!!! Good luck!
