I don't think this a segment that should be abandoned but I don't like this new version, too much Ridgeline in the body style for me.

I already have my mods planned out

Aftermarket Exhaust
Aftermarket Intake (Maybe with snorkel )
Spray-in Bedliner (Either Line-X or Rhino Lining, not sure)
Light bar in the bed (Like the one in the Toyota in Back-to-the-Future)
Off-road lights to go on the light bar
Grille gaurd (I don't think this new body style will allow a steel replacement bumper)
6" Lift kit (If/Whenever they are engineered)
Over-sized wheels and tires

I'm assuming there will be a Canyon and therefore would prefer the GMC version.

Besides cost, the Colorado/Canyon also seem to get the same MPG as the Silverado.
Good thing GM isn't bringing us the Chevrolet Montana.

If GM packages, markets, and prices the Colorado (and assuming Canyon) correctly, they'll dominate the midsize market, considering how the Ranger/Dakota is dead.

Agreed, I've never understood the rational behind pricing these trucks at almost the same level as the Silverado. Yeah, ok, probably my dad would say "yeah I'd just rather have a smaller truck" but i mean, who is going to pay that much for a smaller truck?

I'd pick up a used 4x4, but I definitely wouldn't buy a new one.

I'm a bit surprised GM decided to continue the small truck segment. Dodge (aka Ram Trucks) killed the Dakota due to poor sales and I thought GM would follow since the sales of the Colorado/Canyon have not been good too. The Ford Ranger has been dead for a long time, even though I believe you can still buy one new. Fleet sales keep it going I guess.

I guess GM thought they still need to compete with the decent selling Tacoma's and Frontier's.

less competitors since ford and dodge are gone and its the only domestic mid size truck if it can out peform the tacoma and frontier gm may take over the mid size market
