Yeah and that isn't stock either... you 'old school guys' are the reason why it's so hard for people to be honest.

lol. I tied two jet engines to the rear of the camaro and simply put the car in neutral and I ran a 9.4! But the car is stock!

If you change anything that came from the factory it is no longer a stock car. Stock means from the factory. If your tune was adjusted post factory then it is not stock, im sorry.

Jetting a carb is not stock either, that isn't how the car originally came from the manufaturer. You are lightly (or bolt on) modified

Umm..really? Do you know how many times we have to hear 'new bone stock record' and then you find out the car is modded all because it's accepted by some? It's a bunch of crap... stock = stock.. untouched, nothing changed, nothing removed from the car, etc.

Was a joke... but if you want to get all worked up over so be it.

I know this is unfathomable to folks who have known nothing but efi'd cars their entire life (I'm not point at anyone particular), but y'all are forgetting that the older cars don't have a computer doing all the *tuning* work for you...you actually had to get your hands dirty! Change altitude, change weather conditions, etc...think the same jetting for a car in Denver is safe for the same car at E-town? Hey, guess what, there's no friggin' computer to do the ditry work, so you're gonna have to pop the hood and turn a wrench just to keep it tuned up, or possibly even hurting soemthing. Points, plugs, cap/rotor, dwell/timing, jetting, valve lash...that was all routine *maintenance* back in the day...now, nearly everything on that list is handled by the ecm without the owner even having a clue it's being done.

Guy can call it stock all he wants. Fine with me. That's what he believes and thats a'okay! Each person has their own opinion. Mine below...

You still have to be able to competantly TUNE the ECM for maximum HP/TQ as well. Just because the computer can adjust for subtle changes its still has to be optimized for efficiency. How many "old school jets/points" guys you think can handle that? In my opinion all of them...IF they would just be honest with themselves and realize they don't know everything because they were simply born in the 50's. My pops is still talking 4 bolt mains, double pumpers, and 8-71. I just grinned and nodded. There is STILL alot to be learned from them and vice versa. Remember we learned from what the "old school jets/points" crowd left behind to teach us. Its time to pick up a book, google search, and catch up too folks!

LOL...last I checked, subtle changes > no changes! A carb & shaft distributor are stuck at where ever they're set, while the ecm (in closed loop) is constantly varying the fuel/timing...whatever the magic sensor tells it, it adjusts accordingly.

The generally accepted "stock" category per LS1tech and others is untouched just like it comes from the factory. That means no tune, no taking the spare tire and or seats out ect... Thats how we are able to compare the cars. So no, an a/m tune leaves the car no longer stock per LS1Tech and others guidelines.

I don't understandd how the definition of "stock" can even be questioned. There is no gray area, if the car differs anyway from the way it came off the assembly line it is not stock.

So essentially, the time posted in this thread is not a record and the car is not stock?
