Volt pricing announced. Starts at $41,000*
Well, many were expecting it to start at about $40,000 without the rebate. Turns out, that was pretty close.
Source:http://www.autoblog.com/2010/07/27/2...-3-year-lease/ It comes down to $33,500 with the $7500 credit

It's super pricey. But the list of standard features is impressive.

I'll predict it's gonna be a huge failure at that price.

They don't plan on selling hundreds of thousands of them though. 10k for the first year, then 30k for the 2nd. Not sure about the plans after that. But I would bet that they'll be able to bring the pricing down a bit after a few years due to improvement in the batteries.
Also, the $41k is the MSRP, there is also a $7500 tax credit to consider as well. That brings the effective price down to $33,500 which is about average price for a car now.

I love the car and do understand why it is so expensive.
But having said that. I would never pay anywhere near that for that car. |

8 years/100,000 miles. Battery's designed to hold max charge for 10 years and will start dropping charge little by little after that.

That's pretty good. I do like the looks. I don't know if it would be right for me at this time because I live in a rural area and have to drive long distances. Anybody know how many KW on average it's takes to charge it up?

16kW h total with about 8.8 kW h usable. That is from Wikipedia but for some reason the 8.8 sounds low. I was thinking GM used closer to 70% of the battery pack.

Is this per charge? I'm trying to see how much my electric bill will go up.
