Special stem valve caps for TPMS?
I am trying to replace the stock plastic stem valve caps on my car with the following set:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/390388351417...84.m1423.l2661 However, part of the description for this item states the following: "Cap will fit on standard tire stem. (please check if you have TPMS on your car)" Does that mean that our cars, equipped with a TPMS, require special stem valve caps? |

the TOP of every valve stem is the same......the typical MALE SCHRADER fitting.....those caps will work, you can put them on any Camaro......or even on a bicycle of you have a mind too..

Valve caps
As previously posted the caps will fit, however, the TPMS valve stems and caps are longer,
and any non TPMS cap will leave some exposed threads on the valve stem and may not look the best. |

Thanks for the replies. So does anyone know where to find chrome/aluminum valve caps with the Camaro SS logo similar to the ones in the ebay auction I found, but with an exact fit for our valve stems?

"These stem covers will fit on all standard air valve stems." With that said, I'd have the same problem as the ones being sold elsewhere (eBay, etc.) that leave about 1/4" of brass showing under them. |

To be honest, I wouldn't put aftermarket valve caps on my car. Mostly because of how often/easily they can be stolen. Just my two cents.

Keeps dirt out of the valve and allows it to seal effectively.

Because I don't like the look of the stock black plastic ones. I want some plastic chrome or aluminum ones. |

Y'all can't do this. First the valve stem on the 2010's is different, it takes a larger Cap.
I took the time to look up this information up. First is a warning from the Bimmerfest web site: TPMS Valve Stem Caps - Warning! If your car has TPMS, and they all do since 2005, don't put aftermarket metal valve caps on the stems! The stems require silver colored plastic caps, or nickel plated metal caps. If you use chrome plated caps, or metal caps made the old way then you may be in for a big surprise. I had to tow in a car today which the customer put metal replacement caps on two years ago. When he tried to remove the metal cap the valve stem snapped off, the core popped out and the tire deflated before his shocked eyes. We tried every trick we know to get the other three caps off. We couldn't, they had become one with the valve stem. All four TPM sensors had to be replaced. What is happening is that road salt is getting between the components and causing corrosion to accelerate. Eventually corrosion eats right thru the stem greatly weakening it. Although I've read about this problem for a while in the trade mags, this is the first time I have personally encountered it. So, a special advisory to you snow belt 'Festers; don't use those fancy looking aftermarket metal caps. You could get a rude shock one day when you go to add air to a low tire.

the problem with cheep metal caps is they end up corroding and get stuck OR GALLED on.....if you put some lube on the threads.....they wil not get stuck and come off easy as pie. Mine have been on for 2 1/2 years.....checked the pressure now and then.....naver had an issue.......and never will.

Anti-seize compound works very nicely to prevent dissimilar metal "welding." Doesn't keep brats/punks from stealing 'em, tho. That's why I have a CWCP...although I wouldn't use force to prevent loss of property...as much as I might want to.
I just put the SS caps on at shows, then take 'em off afterward.
