Rough Idle

Has anyone else noticed a rough idle (approx 500 rpm)? It isnt always rough, but sometimes at idle the car feels like its missing on a cylinder and shakes the car a bit.

I think it's an LSx thing. My LS1 in my 98 Vette did it, my LS2 in my 2006 does it, my friends's LS3 Vette does it. I would bet the LS7 and the LS9 does it, too.

My 2ss does this and there is a big difference between cam lope and a rough idle that my car has. It's not all the time but sometimes it just runs like its missing. Anyone else have any insite on this

My LS3 Corvette had somewhat of a poor idle until I richened the idle mixture. I bumped up my MAF table up around 5% from 2400 frequenty (hz) value down. Much improved idle. I assume GM has these engine tuned lean at idle and part throttle for fuel economy.

Yeah, it could be fuel economy or emissions reasons. I notice mine will idle fine and every once in a while at a light I'll notice it will act like its missing, but then clear itself up. Kind of strange how its sporadic, but thankfully it is. I would have assumed the LSA would idle smoother than an LS3 or LS1 due to the supercharger cam, but there's something else going on.

Its just a low idle lump. if it were a true misfire there would be a check engine light for a misfire. Its a performance car. Anyone own a Harley or performance bike, the idle is constantly changing tones and rhythms.

Funny my Dodge Hemi 7 litre does this ever since I added the TVS supercharger. Not sure if it has anything to do with the blower's more complex air routing fuel delivery and the PCM adjusting to that (and I know that the LSx is MAF managed and the Hemi is speed density).....but I do notice a "twitch" during idle that will make the v-belt stumble a bit. It was smooth as silk before the blower so who knows.....maybe fuel quality and DA specifics.
