Sanding touch up paint?
ok you have to do several coats of paint, and it is still a little bumpy, can you sand it with 400 or 600 and polish?
Or is there a reccomended rubbing compound to utilize? I searched but did not see much about types compounds or the possiblity of knocking it down wet sanding. tyvm! (co-worker flung door open right into a trailer at lunch today, 1/4 nick along traing edge of door!!! sigh she started crying....and paid for stuff to fix.) |

I'd first try polishing the touch-up with a mildly abrasive polish. '3M' offers some good products such as "Finesse It" which I found at NAPA. Ed |

400 or 600 grit will take clear coat right off if you are not careful. If I was going to do any sanding on this car, I would use something like 1500 grit, then a fine polish

excellent thanks for the advice guys, thought I saw 400-600 somewhere, but seemed rough and it never hurts to ask. I have 3M rubing and glaze, think I will avoid sanding.

Definitely avoid sanding!! Especially with grits that course. 1500-2000+ is usually used. And if you wetsand with that you need a D/A to remove the fine scratches and get the shine back. I've wetsanded my car before then used my P&C to remove orange peel. |
