Dyno Max VT or MRT 2.0?
I know these topics are way too prominent on these boards (and I have read through most of them) but I am currently torn between the Dynomax VT and the MRT 2.0
What I like about the Dynomax VT is that it is 1) Cheaper (by around 100 dollars) 2) Has an exhaust tone that is similar to stock but a little more aggressive 3) Seems less prone to drone. What I am mainly concerned about 1) Is whether it is loud enough when I step on it 2) Whether it sounds too similar to stock. What I like about the MRT 2.0 1) Way deeper exhaust tone, which sounds pretty cool and different from stock. 2) As a whole seems louder than the Dynomax VT (at least from the videos) 3) Very popular and seems to be well liked. What I am concerned about 1) Seems to be a little more prone to drone (though it shouldn't be terrible) 2) Is a little more expensive I have listened to just about all of the youtube clips that exist for both of these exhausts and I honestly can't tell which I prefer (mainly because I haven't heard them in person). If I listen to a dynomax VT clip I will think "Oh cool I like this" and then when I listen to an MRT V2.0 clip I think "Oh this sounds good too" and then I will go back to a Dynomax VT clip and think "Wow this sounds great" and will then switch back to an MRT V2.0 clip and will think it sounds wonderful as well. As you can see it is hard to decide. When I turn on my car I want people to think "Oh snaps that's a Camaro that just fired up". I want the car to be just a little louder in general but I don't want my car to sound super obnoxious. I would also like to hear it more when I am in the cabin and when I step on the pedal. |

To me the Dynomax VT was perfect, not too much noise and no drone. If you like the extra sound get what you want you can always trade it out later. But the VT does have a nice snap under full throttle, def better than stock. Powerwise I doubt there is any real difference between the two

I have the MRT 2 and I absolutely love it. When you first install it you're going to question it, but it sounds better after you break it in. Mine's been on for a few months and I LOVE the sound, it sounds so aggressive. There is some drone, but I don't mind it. You will get the "Oh snaps that's a Camaro that just fired up" everytime you start it, I know I do.

I am in the MRT V2.0 camp. I did research like you before I even bought my car and I settled on MRT. 1 week after I bought my car I had MRT on and I have loved it ever since. I know you said you heard all the clips but thought I would post these 2 clips from Morano Racing just in case you missed them. As far as drone I can't say I here it, you here the exhaust cruising at 60 but I don't think it is much louder then the stock when cruising. To me it sounds awesome when you get on it hard and make it howl a little. I thought it was worth the extra cash.

I was in your same shoes recently and had narrowed it down to the same 2...ended up going with cat backs, but I was going to get the DynoMax because it was not obnoxiously loud and had no drone. My main concern was drone. I have friends in my Camaro club that have each and I liked each, but the Dynomax was more subdued, but sounded very nice when at WOT. The MRT just has too much drone for me...
I would have gotten the Dynomax but they did not fit the Convertible.

I was down to those two as well. But I found a killer deal on some almost new MRT2s and got em. I LOVE the way they sound. They have a minimal drone, and I mean very minimal, on the highway, but it doesn't bother me at all. I've read a ton of posts about both nor this forum and I doubt you could go wrong with either. But if you're looking for zero drone, Dynomax is probably the way to go.

You can get the Dynomax VT for $366 at Jegs with price matching. I like mine. Didn't want loud or drone on my daily driver so I'm happy with them.

I think it is. It's definitely nothing like the old set, which FedEx picked up today. I still recommend it as far as 'quiet' exhaust goes. I really want Corsa tho.

I just got the Dynomax Ultraflow (same as VT, without the "drone elimination") from jegs, price matched amazon for $323 free shipping! I think its part number 39493. Sounds good, deep. There is some drone at 70mph, but it sounds good - my take is that if you don't want drone, don't upgrade your exhaust. Took an hour to put it in, car jacks no lift. Will get it welded soon, clamps for now.

Hey guys thanks for all of the opinions. After sleeping on it I think I am going to go for a dynomax VT. I'm in college so it being cheaper is a huge bonus for me, plus it seems like it is different enough from stock to make me happy.
