Do you like your Borla S axle back ?

I have narrowed down the axle back I want to Borla S (not as loud as Atak, but a step above the Touring).

Anytime you change just the mufflers I know it is a risk; the factory exhaust is tuned at the factory from the exhaust manifold, resonators, cats and mufflers to make a predictable sound. But I have listened to many sound clips and like the Borla S axle back mufflers, although pricey at around $580.

Before I pull the trigger, is there anyone out there with just the Borla S axle back that feels it was a bad choice for them and wishes they just kept it stock?

Or if you love them, please chime in.

Thanks,

Bob

I have the GMPP version of the S type with catless long tubes and I absolutely love it. Its loud, throaty and everyone gives me compliments on how it sounds. I see you're in MA, we could meet up so you could hear it.

I have been running the borla axle back for three years on my 2010 L99 SS and I am very happy with them. I have a cold air intake, ported throttle body and stock on back to the borla's. I have no drone at any speed. The engine AFM was distasteful when it kicked in. (4 cylinder mode) I got the tune from Jannetty and now all is well. (no AFM) With all honesty-I REALLY LIKE MY AXEL-BACK BORLA'S.
Hope this answers your question.

I have the GMPP Track Pack Version (which is basically a Borla S Type at almost double the price) and it sounds freaking mean when you get on it!

I just have an axel back on the remaining full stock exhaust (on a L99).
I can still hold a conversation in the cabin no problem! It's not that loud at idle, but really wakes up at WOT. I get compliments all the time. It's a nice deep tone.

Some have complained of drone within certain RPM's. But drone is subjective to each individual person. I personally do not think it's that bad. If you add LT headers it'll probably be a whole new story.

If you're just looking to make it sound like a muscle car, which was my main goal, then I don't think you could go wrong the S-Type. Good luck!

EDIT - I would never go back to the stock cans after installing these!

Had them since June and they sound much better than stock.
I wish they were a little bit louder but not as loud as the Atak.

Borla on both ends

I've got Borla headers,JBA high performance cats, resonator delete x-pipe and Borla atak's on the tail, really barks at WOT.

If you are the type that's never happy with decisions. You may want to start off with a cheaper setup. I have the borla s axle back and love it. I got the axle back setup as I knew I was eventually going to get headers.

Just don't get crappy a$$$ Magnaflow. I love every NPP or Borla exhaust sound I hear, especially with headers.
