Loving the car so far, but having a few issues...

I have put 1050 miles on my 1LE in the last ~5 weeks. In that time I have installed ZL1 rocker panels, and painted the turn signals/markers/tail bezels. At around the 800 mile mark everything was perfect. Not a single issue. 2 weeks ago on a quick wot 1-2 it had a grind. The next night it did it again twice. Didn't drive it for a week and took it out this past weekend. Same thing... about 25% of the quick, high rpm shifts would be a grind.

So after some reading on here I have ordered a tick speed bleeder, Tick clutch line, redline trans fluid, motul clutch fluid, a gto reservoir kit. I am looking at the modified master cylinders but I want to see how these changes affect it first. I never had any grinding issues with my 2010 SS over 1 year and 7500 miles. I am trying to get this issue resolved before I start modding it. ARH catless short system and cold air inductions is in route so I am hoping to get it lined out pretty quick.

The other issue is that my HUD. It has only happened a few times early this week, but it would come on and fade out. Then stay off for a few minutes and fade in and then back out. No clue what the deal is there. Hasn't done it again so the dealership couldn't diagnose it...

Other than these few little issues it has been flawless. It honestly is a completely different breed of Camaro when comparing it to the 2010 I had.

Grinding seems to be a little too common. Are you allowing the trans to warm up and it still grinds? I'd be hitting up warranty service.
Here's a thread about it.

I have read a lot of threads on the issue. I have only had the issue with everything at operating temps. They will be fixing the issue if it gets to that point. We have already talked about it. Not too big of a deal. I just figured I would post some of the things my car is doing.

Greetings WongBob,

Sorry to hear about the grinding as it sounds like you may need to make a trip to your local GM dealer. I'd be happy to schedule that visit for you. Feel free to send me a PM if I can assist.

My wife works at the dealership. It is sitting there now. They couldn't replicate the problems. We will find out soon enough if it is a synchronizer issue or otherwise.

Mine was a little notchy at first, hard to shift from 2nd to 3rd, during more aggressive driving. After 1500 to 2k miles it started shifting smooth as glass. 5k miles on it now and still no issues with shifting. I just figured it needed to break in and loosen up a bit. It was also a little tough to get in gear on cold startups, but that's better now too. Hopefully it just needs to get broken in a little more and it's not an issue. We need to get these things together one day and cruise these things down some twisty back roads!

I'm not too concerned. I think if it was a synchro is would do it at part throttle every now and then as well. Should be able to get it worked out. I will have everything swapped in the next few days and will post up results.

I have 900 and change miles on mine, broke in hard and not one single issue with the tran or shifting! Smooth as butter... knock knock on wood.
Just telling you this as a reference, not as a gloat!!
Good luck with the issue man!

I've 10,600 miles on my car and only once did I experience that same issue with the HUD.. I immediately googled and found that people have had it happen to them with glare. It seemed about right since that one time it happened there was massive glare, however it never happened before and I live in florida. I keep it on all the time and it's been working great since.

I remember being pissed that week because earlier Hill Start assist made me stall at the Hard Rock Casino garage and my clutch got stuck (which when googled, found out that others had the same problem).. it wouldn't fully come up after depressing it and eventually stuck my foot under and forced it up and it's been fine ever since.

That was about the only time I've ever been unhappy with my Camaro.. those problems made me sick to my stomach.. but that was months ago and no problems ever since! Love my Camaro.

I felt like the trans shifted Okay at first. When I changed all the oils at 1500 miles it made a HUGE difference. I went with Valvoline across the board. So far the clutch, the brakes, the engine, trans and diff are all some form of Valvoline Synthetic. You could do the same with Royal Purple, Lucas, or Castrol, Mobil One what ever.

Check post #78 on my thread... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285054
