Is there Something Sketchy About this 2LT/"RS"

The reason I put "RS" in the title is I am in the midst of buying a Camaro but I don't want to go brand new. I found a nice yellow 2012 Camaro 2LT/RS in my area and it's pretty much perfect aside from having the Hockey Stick Stripes (Ugly IMO) and not having the Rally Stripes. That's a simple modification though because I will take the hockey stick stripes off and get a family member to take it in and add the matte black rally stripes. But, back on topic, I have my doubts about it being a true "RS" version.

To start, it doesn't seem to have the RS Badges. The rims are only 19" and I believe they are supposed to be 20". The headlights dont look to be the RS ones with the halo ring. That's all I can find that tells me it isn't the RS. It does have the gauges that are in the RS versions.

Here are some pictures to help you decide if it's just been debadged and stripped of RS parts or what...

Please tell me if this is an RS or not. I'm new to all of this so you guys may be able to tell me if those are the correct headlights and whatnot. Maybe the 2012 RS package was different? I don't know but most of you do. I assume if it isn't a true RS, I can get the priced knocked down a bit?

Thanks guys, I hope to stay here a while once I get this car and hopefully join in on the talk with the community. Peace.

Easy. Not a RS. It is a 2LT. RS = HID lights, paint to match roof rails, SS rims. Guages are 2LT related and nothing to do with RS. BTW if you want a RS then find one, don't think you can add cheaply because the HID's are $$$.

RS Appearance Package will have: (available on both LT and SS models)

- HID headlamps with "halo ring"

- Rear Spoiler (LT only - SS already has it)

- 20-inch 5-spoke wheel with Midnight Silver paint finish

- RS-unique tail lamps, also slightly tinted

- Body-color matched roof ditch molding (non-RS will be black instead)

- Different fog light bulbs (P13W vs 5202)

- RS badging on driver's side grille and passenger side trunk lid

Roof Ditch mouldings should be color keyed with th rest of the car, RS has Halos and 20" wheels...

That looks to be just a 2LT and not an RS Camaro from the looks of it.

That is NOT a RS it doesn't have halo headlights, and the roof ditch molding is black. On the RS model it is the same color of the car. the 4 gauge cluster you mentioned doesn't have any thing to do with it being a RS or not.

Alright thanks. They've been advertising it as an RS and it's currently sitting at my local Chevy dealer. I'll let them know and get it knocked down in value. It was just very confusing that they told me it was but I thought it wasn't so I had to check incase it was different in 2012 or something. Most of my research has been on the 2013's.

Look at one that has the RS package and make sure you are OK without it. Many are but others, like me, wanted the 20" wheels and the HID's. Adding the wheels after the fact aren't too expensive used but the OEM HID's will run you $800-900 if you buy them here. Also your dealer will tell you that it is impossible to add the HID's. Those two things lone will set you back about $1500-$2000.

Yea, that's the thing. I love the HID's and the 20" rims. I could probably live without the rims but not the HID's. The moulding colour and RS badges, I could live without. The tail lights and spoiler I could also live without. I will most likely tint the tail lights a bit anyways, and possibly get the spoiler dipped or wrapped. IDK, I'll photoshop it and decide. How much do you think I could get the dealership to knock it down?

Zero ideas on how much they would come down. I'll bet that say the price is without the RS and the ad was a typo. I understand that they run more $ north of the border so I'm no expert regarding pricing.
