Cleaning LFX engine to add Oil Catch

Hello everyone.

So I bought a 2012 RS at 71,000 km (44,000 miles).

I was looking to add some upgrades such as cold air intake, exhaust, Neon kit, etc etc.

But looking around in this forum, I've realised that an oil catch should be a priority.

Now, I know that 71,000 km is a lot without one... so I was thinking of cleaning the interior of the engine before adding the oil catch. Hopefully having it factory clean (if that even exists). If not, what kind of descriptions should I be looking for on a cleaning service's website to get that interior clean?

Living in a city of sand storms frightens me.

Thanks all!

Only the intake valves need attention. Watch these videos on how to do this properly:

If you saw what the pistons and cylinder walls looked like after a seafoam treatment on a DI engine you would never consider using it.

I'm in the same boat, I brought the car with 40k miles and the car had 3 owners before me. The first thing I did was put a catch can on but I still want to clean up heads. I'm not going to put seafoam in vac line but was going to do the spray. Still on the fence about this to.

I wrote a DIY for this.

Have a look in that section of the forum.
