Angry Help me with my numbers! Please...

So I'm looking at buying my first American car. I've had Honda Civic -> Volvo S60 -> Nissan Rogue -> Infiniti EX35...

Now I'm looking at getting a Camaro 2SS RS. The full package is this:

2SS
Rally Yellow
Black interior
RS package
6 speed auto
MyLink with Navigation
Black Rally Stripes
Power Sunroof

MSRP is $42,130

I'm being offered $41k for it. It's coming from 1100 miles away too since there are none near by in yellow.

I'm trading in my Infiniti EX35 lease, and getting $0 for it, but not paying anything and that trade clears the tax on the car.

I was originally quoted $697 a month for the lease with $3500 down.

Now realize my Infiniti was $48k and with $3500 down I pay $535 a month, so already I'm not impressed.

Before I walk out I was offered $550, and after I walked out I had two phone calls and three text messages offering me $500.

Now my Infiniti is 535 inc tax, so around $480.

$490 is ok, but this is a car $8k less.... Checking BMW's Money Factor (the only money factor I know off hand) with the price and what I was told on the Camaro would be a 59% residual, that should work out to be $397 a month.

Using a higher money factor brings it up to around $460.

So am I right that $400 is possible on this, or is this just too low and I really should expect to pay more?

For $697 you could buy it, and your payments would be cheaper than that. Unless you don't have good credit and your APR is really high. I would assume you have good credit though so your payments should be a lot less for a lease.

So I signed the papers today:

$442 a month + Tax, $3k down, $4500 first payment.

Car should turn up on Wednesday I hope, being trucked so should have under 100 miles at least I hope it will. My infiniti had over 400 when I got it new :-(

I received the keys to a second hand 2010 SS RS, so been having fun with that today and very excited about mine arriving later in the week.
