I want to get tints on my Camaro when i get it but i dont want a cop to pull me over becuz of my tints i think the law here is no lower then 28% but i wanted to here from fellow florida camaro owners who have tints, what they have and if they ever got pulled over for it yet.

I figured theyd have an eye out for my car already so y give them a chance to pull me over

any greater than 20% on the side windows or back window is illegal...you can have the strip to the AS-1 line on the windshield but no lower.

That said I had 5% on the front 2 doors, 5% over 20% on teh back 2 doors and back window...and only got pulled over once in 3 years with my Colorado. And with that I just got a cop I knew to sign saying that I fixed it (I hadn't) so it only really cost me $7.50

I AM a cop here in FL, and I got 15% all the way around, with a strip on the windshield header (shhhh!!

). At least here in our county, we're not real big on stopping for tint, let alone ticketing, and I certainly don't do it. It's friggin Florida for crying out loud! We have sun all the time and it's super hot. Not to mention, with 15%, it really didn't seem THAT dark. Meaning, I could still see inside well enough. Most of the guys on the force I've talked to have "illegal" tint as well...

I'm not sure what the legal limit is. I got mine done almost 2 weeks ago by a local guy who has done all my vehicles and the company I work for. I have the darkest legal on the 2 door windows and I told him I wanted just a little darker than legal on the back windows, if I remember correctly it is 13% charcoal.

I have no clue what all the numbers and names for the tints are. Anyway, it doesn't seem that dark at all. At least not compared to my '99SS. The windows on it were almost pitch black (I bought it used already tinted) and extremely hard to see out of. However I never had a problem with getting pulled over for it or tickets.

I have 20% on my Corvettes for 8 years in Florida with 20% on the sides and 5% on the back.

On our Camaro we have 20% on the sides and back and 55% on the front.

Per Florida Statute 316.2953 the windows beside the driver cannot be less than 28%...Per Florida Statute 316.2954 the windows behind the driver cannot be less than 15%...that being said tint meters usually have a +/-3% accuracy...Food for thought.

As long as the cops can see in the car they won't give you a hard time. They want to be able to see your movements if they stop you. With that said, some cops are just pains and don't get me wrong, my dad is an officer so I respect them all.

In Tallahassee they don't seem to care either..I had a cop look at mine tonight and ask if it came from the factory like that...wink wink! LOL! Of course I am a firefighter and it was in the station parking lot, but he told me they don't really ticket for it.

Never had a problem with cops and tint here in Florida

Here is what I have on my current rides

-2010 2LT/RS- 15% sides, and back window
-2009 Malibu 2LT 15% sides, and back window
-2007 Suburban 15% sides, and back window
-2006 Silverado 10% sides, and back window
-2001 Z/28 5% sides, and back window, & front strip
-2000 Camaro -2001 Z/28 5% sides, and back window, & front strip
