I will never complain again about paying $576 per year. I am not sure how rates are set in other states, in Ohio your driving record and credit play a mojor role in your premium.

FYI,
here im Michigan, The police record will reflect points that count against your record for the past two years, the police DO however keep a record of your points going back 7 years.
The insurance companies on the other hand look at your points over the last three years.
If you get enough points, your insurance carrier may drop you or perhaps put you in the 'high-risk' catagory which drives your rates through the roof.
The only solution to to make it through 3 years without any tickets/points. Then your rates should go back down to normal levels.

Wow, I couldn't imagine paying 1300 a month for insurance, I thought my car payment was bad (Way lower than half that). I'm 21 and single and I pay $250 for an LT full coverage, and a cobalt full coverage with another 25 year old driver for the cobalt (Though it's in my name). I also gave them the VIN of an SS and they quoted me $30 more a month for a 2SS.

20 years old, V6, AllState, clean record, $150 a month... If the car cost me any more than $3000 a year on insurance, I wouldn't do it...

I do live at my parents home, which helps a lot, but they are recently retired and took a long trip to Mexico and Central America leaving me with only the bills to pay...And yes, I'm only 20.
This isn't adding up! Can you explain further? Also, how did you graduate with two degrees at 20????? I'm graduating early and I'm 22.

That is obscene. Get a different car or something. Seriously. You'd have a new SS in like 5 years at that price... WTF

I'm 28, single female, no accidents, no tickets, etc etc-- $550 every six months for full coverage with $500 deductibles, 100/300 on bodily injury, 100/300 UM/UIM, $50k property damage (I work for a PI attorney and it is WORTH it to have higher coverages after what I see every day), and $25k in medpay. State Farm.

Not to jack the this odd thread or anything, but if you enlighten us here there would be a made rush for a collector policy with me in line first!

The thread isn't fishy at all.

Sounds like a typical 20 year old kid who hasn't had his soul crushed by having to pay his own way yet. $1300/month really isn't much if you have no other expenses and someone else's home to live in.

Like I said...$1300/month for insurance..wow..just sell the car and buy something cheap. It's not worth it at all.

If you're living in your folks' home and they're not there, use the opportunity to save up for your own place. I couldn't imagine being under my folks' roof at age 20.

personally, i wouldnt pay $1300 a month for insurance unless i was making money by having it. My cargo insurance for trucking company is only $500/month,
