Yup, we had another member here do that, but their dealer didn't have the software to do that at the time because the car was so new. The Camaro seems to be rather stable, so the speed limiting is probably mostly related to tires.

Just be smart and make sure to limit yourself to whatever your tires can handle.

Problem wouñd be in my country (Spain), I had asked to a Chevy service in Madrid about if they can make the basic services like chage oil, basic manteniance service, etc and SURPRISE he asked me.... WHAT IS CAMARO?? OMFG!

Hum I don't think it's a law here they just comply with the EU rules of 155.

I know for instance Mitsubishi's USA made Eclipse has no limiter.

I'd take that one step further and say limit yourself to whatever speed YOU can handle. The driver is more likely to fail before the car does.

That is a better way of saying it.

155 for cars with 20"
118 for 18"

and there is no law regulating speed by a governor

the Pirelli PZero's on the Camaro ss are speed rated to a Y speed rating which is 186 mph, so for the SS the tires are not the reasion for the 155 limit.

Actually, the 2LT comes with 19". It also has speed limited to 155mph.

It's not the size of the wheels, it's the tires that come on them. That's my understanding.

Actually if I remember right a ZR in the tire size description actually means there is no speed rating(above 149mph) There is no actual Z rating anymore Y is the highest then add the ZR to the width description..... Here, look at this and see if it helps!!

SPEED
SYMBOL MAXIMUM SPEED APPLIES TO
PASSENGER CAR TIRES APPLIES TO
LIGHT TRUCK TIRES
* above 149 mph (240 km/h) YES -
Y** 186 mph (300 km/h) YES -
W** 168 mph (270 km/h) YES -
V (with service description) 149 mph (240 km/h) YES -
H 130 mph (210 km/h) YES YES
U 124 mph (200 km/h) YES YES
T 118 mph (190 km/h) YES YES
S 112 mph (180 km/h) YES YES
R 106 mph (170 km/h) - YES
Q 99 mph (160 km/h) - YES
P 93 mph (150 km/h) - YES
N 87 mph (140 km/h) - YES
M 81 mph (130 km/h) YES
Temporary
Spare Tires -

*For tires having a maximum speed capability above 149 mph (240 km/h), a "ZR" may appear in the size designation. For tires having a maximum speed capability above 186 mph (300 km/h), a "ZR" must appear in the size designation. Consult the tire manufacturer for maximum speed when there is no Service Description. Example: P275/40R17 93W at 168 mph (270km/h) or P275/40ZR17 at above 149 mph (240 km/h). Consult tire manufacturer.

**A "ZR" may appear in the tire size designation.
NOTE: For "V", "W", or "Y", and tires with a "ZR" rating, a vehicle load adjustment (for speed) is required; consult tire manufacturer.

this is what the side wall of the stock tires on a Camaro SS have P245/45ZR20 103Y thats the front the rear has P275/40ZR20 106Y, it's the Y at the end of the 103 and 106 thats sets the max speed at the 103/106 load range for that tire, the Z speed rating was set a long time ago when they thought factory cars would never go over 149mph, to add another example the tires on an SRT8 Challenger are Front 245/45ZR20 99Y and rear 255/45ZR20 99Y for get size for now the number 99Y means it has a lower load rating than the tires on a Camaro SS but same speed rating of Y and the Challenger top speed is not limited and has a max speed of 173, my point being the tires on the Camaro SS are not the reasion for the 155mph limit.

All German automakers stick to that limit except Porsche. Even factory tuned cars like BMW M class are limited. However, all dealers I have asked so far told me that it wouldn't be a problem to get rid of that.
Let me just say even on the German Autobahn and especially on the - nowadays very few - no speed limit zones it can still be impossible to really drive on the limit! Several unlimited zones have only two lanes and on the three lane highways you still got a lot of idiots driving around (and remember, passing on the right is prohibited!). A "safe" way to try would be during the night when no trucks (exept special permission or fresh foods like diary) are allowed on the road.

just my 2 cents
...I'm German by the way

just wanted to add more information, the tires on the LT are speed rated w so they are good up to 168mph and the tires that come on the LT RS have the same speed rating of Y as the SS does hope this helps.
