Ah, the ol turd gen camaro.
Glad I wasn't old enough to drive when these buckets of junk were on the road. It might have unneccesarily killed my love of American muscle before it could get started.

To each their own, I personally loved the 3rd gen F bodys...they weren't anything fast and didn't hold together long but were an icon of the 80s

I did have a 84 Trans Am that I thought was pretty nice for its time.

As someone who owned an 82, 84, and 89 Camaro, I would have to differ with some of you younger fellas opinions. For that time, those cars were very stylish and turned a few heads. My 89 IROC-Z with the 5.7 and T-tops got me lots of action.

Not sure I would call them buckets of junk or you can say that about allot of cars from the 80's ? My second favorite car from my 84 T/A was my 87 Turbo Shelby Charger and if I could find another one cheap and not ragged out I would buy it as a second car.

I agree. The earlier 2nd gen Z28 with the split front bumper are the best looking IMO.
The ones from the later 70s not so much. When I was 16 in 1989, an electric blue IROC Z would have been my dream car. So yeah, at the time, the 3rd gens were a bad ass ride. |

Care to elaborate? Or you going to jump on every post I make now with some passive-aggressive comment.

I was 24 in 1989 and traded in my 1984 Z-28 for an electric blue IROC-Z with the 5.7 and T-tops. Out of the dozen or so cars that I have owned, that was by far my favorite, until now of course.

I suppose we have the benefit of hindsight now. I'm 48 now and remember when platform shoes, flared trousers, droopy moustaches, and of course the legendary mullet were hip and trendy. At the time I guess each gen was as exciting as our 5ths, but I do think the overhangs, and diddy wheels look a bit weak on the mid gen models
