Traded 1LE for Z28
I traded in my 2014 RedHot 1LE 2SS, NNP exhaust for a 2015 White Z28, picking it up on Tuesday at Huber Chevrolet in Omaha. I put her back to stock last night, so I am selling some mods in the classifieds : Rotofab intake $300 and ZL1 side skirts $400 plus shipping if anyone is interested.
If anyone is interested in the 1LE, it has 2900 miles, Hankook RS3's, full front clear bra and clear bra on gills. Nice car. |

The guy buys a bad azz car and the first thing you say is one blew a motor be careful?!?! You forgot to mention it was tuned and who knows if that had something to do with it. Enjoy the Z man, congrats to you, thats my poster car and would love to get one someday too. If you dont tune it you can track as much as you want and you will have a warranty.

I believe you're gonna love it. It's an awesome car. Post pics and VIN in the Z/28 section when you pick it up.

I was looking at used C6, Z06's before getting my 13 1LE. The main reason for switching was the reliability issues people were having with the LS7 engine. Mostly issues with the heads and rocker arms, failed trunnion bearings and valve guides, I didn't want to risk it without a warrantee. There's lots of info on the corvette forums.

So did you get a good deal on trade in or did you take a loss?

MG, I did not see the "tuned" aspect....sorry. But I will stand by my post of letting someone know about potential issues, just like my clutch/tranny! There is a low mile (600) Z28 on ebay right now for 58K I believe, trust me I thought about it. Just so happens that I was surfing c5 at the same time and saw the engine blow post.....

What made you suddenly do this? Buyers remorse, impulse buy, you test drove a Z28 and then said I want one.....??? |

With racing it's pay to play. And even with a warranty you might not be able to use it depending on how you used/abused the car. But congrats OP! You have the most awesome LS engine ever and it's wrapped in a very cool car. I just wish I could have bought my 1LE with an LS7. There are more than a few on here who would have paid $10K for that option.

Hand built engines
Just took a tour of the corvette plant over the weekend in bowling green, and they have moved the hand built engine works from wixom to there now. I saw them building some LS7's in there for the Z28's. For a fee you can go in and help build your own engine as well.
Man were there alot of Z06 C7 corvettes being made. If I had an extra $95K lying around!

Unfortunately, this is an important subject, and should not be dismissed as troll. I owned '06 and '13 Z06s, and this was one of the reasons why I swithced back to LS3s (1LE).
