Bad return from Fest
Well had the worst day in my life to date traveling back to Indiana from Camarofest ran into a 4 semi crash Saturday morning on highway10 east got detoured to nowhere besides the swamps of Baton Rouge La, dam GPS wouldn't work, sat in traffic for a good 2 hours going nowhere finally was 35 miles from my home town when bam hit 3 big pieces of steel laying in the middle of my lane on the interstate, blew out my left front tire our great tire repair kit that GM supplies us with the car didn't work, had to call roadside for assistance and ride the rest of the way home on the back of a flat bed, don't no if the car sustained any suspension damage yet, but needless to say I will never drive my baby that far again it just isn't worth it!!!:th umbdown:

Sorry bout your car man, but at least your ok. I feel you as far as driving long distances. I am about to leave for seven weeks to Missouri and my car is staying at home. Just too much risk.

So sorry but glad you made it back safe. I have been to Indy last two years (only 4 hour drive for me). Just couldn't do Houston.

Took a large tire to the front end coming home from Indy two years ago so I feel your pain. At least your safe and hope you had fun while you were here!

Sorry for you and your ride, but cars are built to drive. I live in in Illinois and have drove to S.C., Atlanta a couple times, the western part of MO.
And in June I'm driving it to Panama City Fl. I haven't had any issues as of yet. It's very disappointing when those kind of things happen, I always feel like the car will never be the same when it happens to me. With all that being said personal safety is the most important and we will never take our prized possessions with us when we leave. So fix em and drive em. |

Agree with CAM...ZL1. I put 170,000 miles on my 94 Z28 in 10 yrs without as much as a flat tire. Not saying it won't happen to me because I know it will and I'll be pissed as hell when it does, but I can't imagine leaving my car at home in the garage.

I feel your pain. This too shall pass and hopefully it isn't too badly damaged. As you said, it was 35 miles from your home! Give it a while and you'll be ready to take it out and stretch it's legs again.

Sucks that it happened sounds like a rough trip back from a good time. Don't leave it in the garage drive it and fix the stuff that needs fixing. Life's to short to not enjoy the fruits of your labor. Hope it's on the road soon sir.

That sucks to hear, man. I just rolled into home in Illinois from the Fest after a 12 hour drive and mine was great. Hopefully your car will be ok.

Major bummer. I can sympathize and understand your reluctance to road trip in your ZL1. In 96, I bought a new Firbird with the Formula tire/rims on it. Week one, I hit a peice of metal in the road that destroyed a tire during monsoon rain. Week two, a car in front of me kicks up a huge chunk of semi tire retread that hit the nose square busting the hell out of it. Last time I drove to Atlanta in the wife's new Crosstour, it took minor damage too that resulted in my repainting the whole nose.
I will rent a car if I road trip or just fly

Sucks. I looked forward to this weekend for months and my (stock) clutch went bye-bye on the burnout of my first run of the weekend...FAIL!
