Is the license plate holder screwed right onto the body of the car?
Just wanted to clarify how the license plate holder is put on the Camaro. Anyone have any ideas? Fbodfather?

Normally they drill 2 holes and there is a screw and nut to hold it on.
Probably can take it off and just have the 2 small holes. I would like to see it mounted on the side on an LS where the fog holes are, just out of curiosity. |

It has been confirmed (by Heather R) that the "front plate mounting provisions" (i.e. the front plate bracket) will come from the factory in the trunk (or backseat). So if you don't want holes in your front bumper, tell you dealer. Tell them soon and remind them often.

I do too (Ontario). But I'm going to see if I can fabricate a removable bracket that mounts through the lower grill. Someone posted a link to a fancy power front plate hide-away device. Not sure if one will be available for the Camaro. Do a search

I'm glad I live in a state that requires only a rear tag. You guy do what you have to so you'll be in complience. Drilling holes must suck to your new camaro, I feel for ya.

I guarantee you this - if you live in NY or any state requiring a front plate and you don't have one when a cop sees this car, even if you're going 10 mph UNDER the limit, you are going to get pulled over! Hey even if your state doesn't require it, if for no other reason the cops are gonna want to know EVERYTHING about your ride. Most of 'em are car guys too.
Be prepared...and STAY SOBER! |

It's like what my dealer and friends say. If you run across the wrong cop on the wrong day, then yes, you may get pulled over. I was advised to just keep the plate in the back seat and play ignorance. Just say you planned on doing it over the weekend. Or maybe keep it in the front window. The same rule applies to tinted window that may be too dark. The wrong cop on the wrong day.... |

Edit-> HOWEVER, if you're looking for a ticket and are a NY resident, black out your windows and drive around anywhere in the State for a couple hours.

I'm hoping to put a hide-away plate in the front. I live in Cali and want to avoid being pulled over.

I crawled under the front bumper today on a 2010 with the plate mounted with supplied front mount. There is a large flat surface under the lowest grill trim. I will post pictures tomorrow. There is lots of room to mount a hidden remote plate holder. I Have some measurements too.
