New school vs old school

I don't know if this has been asked but here it goes,

1987 Buick Grand National

VS

2013 RS Camaro

Just curious what you guys think.

I don't think of an '87 as old school, but I'd still opt for the Camaro. 80s GMs were rustbuckets around here.

Funny you brought up this thread. Been thinking about getting a 87 Grand National myself. My buddy had one in the service and would typically beat up on my old 5.0 mustang with it. The problem is trying to find one that hasn't been beat to hell.

I would take an 87 GN.

had an 85 Monte SS new,
black grey interior.

The GN back then was a rocket
compared to the Monte SS !

Back then they were known for being faster than the Vette's.

Oh man do I feel old, an 87 is considered old school now a days. But if you think about it, that was 26 years ago. Back in 1987 that would have been a 1961 year car.

To answer you question though, is this RS an SS? If so, then I'd take the 2013 Camaro.

And back in '87, my " old school " car was a 61 Impala bubbletop.

Guess I need to change with the times .

Seen one run at my local 1/8 mile years ago he was running about 2tenths faster than I was running in my m6 when it was bone stock with 30day tags still on it, and I was also not use to the car then ethier, trapped 1mph faster than me, I would say its a drivers race, if his was stock like he said.

Hard to find stock GN/GNX anymore. It doesn't take a whole lot to make them really fast. I'll guess the Buick has got this one.

I owned an '87 about 10 years ago. Loved that car, so I'll take the Turbo Buick any day!

Our 86 GN just went 9.98 at 138 on Wednesday night. Stock cubed 3.8 and still looks stock. Be careful who you pick on.

LOL, I remember back in the day telling this dude the fastest production car was based on the Buick Regal... He refused to believe me and thought I was full of s**t. I couldn't think of the name Grand National at the time and all I could think of was Buick Regal. Funny!

Not all of them were "Grand Nationals". They made other less conspicuous models which had the exact same drivetrain. Definitely a wolf in sheeps clothing....

Didn't they make a turbo Regal back in the mid 80's. Who would've thunk Grandpas car would be a sleeper.

Yep, the one I owned was a T-Type and it actually was made to look like a Grand National minus the badges, seats, wheels and rear spoiler. Option code WE4....only 1547 were produced.

It's a shame that GM will never make nice Buicks because they'd compete with Cadillac. If they made a modern-day GNX, I think I'd take out another loan.

Well you better call your bank because they are making a GNX with a twin turbo 3.6. They are also making GN's with the turbo 2.0. I dont think it will look like a muscle car the way the old GNX did but it will be fast. Its going to be built on the new ATS/Camaro platform as well. Hoping it will at least be a coupe but it probably will end up being a sedan.

All the pics I see look like a regular run-of-the-mill sedan. If that's the case, I'd rather slam my junk in a sliding glass door.

Been watching this car, nicely modded and appears to be in good condition.

I wild love a grand national...or a turbo regal. Either one would be fine with me.
