Yes, it's a "performance" sedan but it's still a 4 door sedan and it's #1 priority is not dragging it self down the 1/4 mile, it's not MEANT for drag racing who told you that?
You can bring a minivan to a track that doesn't mean it's for drag racing. the problem with most people on here that argue back and forth is that they think every car ever built is made for drag racing. in your eyes a car is better because it's faster and you won't hear anything else.

Wrong!!! This is not the SHO from the 90's it was OBVIOUSLY designed to attract a different croud than it once did.

The Impala is old!!! Of course this thing will "smoke" it. What's there to be honest about?

Heck -- they don't even make an SS version anymore!

That's not impressive at all. Time it. It took 16.5 seconds to get to 90. My Alero does that with a pushrod 3.4 and an automatic.

I agree. The new SHO is not meant to be sporty. It is meant to be a big but still quick semi-luxury car, which is why they compare it to Audi in their commercials. I don't know why some people are thinking of it as a track car. No one looking for that type of car is going to buy a 4500 lb FWD-based full size sedan. Just ask Nissan how their FWD, 4-door "sports car" Maxima has panned out for them.

The Imapla SS is dead? When did that happen?

Does that mean the "LS4" label is now available to the upcoming DI V-8s?

Last year, I think...

And probably not. I don't think they've ever re-used an engine designation...imagine the paper trail they'd have to correct.

I'm a bit sad about that, though on the bright side, maybe that makes room for a Chevrolet version of the G8 in the lineup (beyond the police car that has been rumored).

GM has re-used engine designations multiple times now, they have a long history of it actually. LT1, L98, L99, LS3, LS4, LS6, LS7.... etc.

Yes GM has re-used the hell out of engine designations.

Even the LS9 was originally a 350 in 69 and up Chevy trucks.

I didn't know they did that...I'd have thought it would be hard to do.

You will get to see which designations have been re-used and what the RPO originally was for.
