Camaro's one of the 10 use cars to avoid....

Check this out:
http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...N1c2VkLWNhcnM-,

Any Camaro Wearing Death Metal Stickers

There’s a lot of good to be said about old Camaros: They were available with small-block V-8s, massaged right they handle well, and they’re dirt-cheap. But it’s also true that these cars attract the sort of buyer who saves his greatest loyalty for death metal legends like Slayer, Necrophagia, and Morbid Angel. Vehicle care isn’t a top priority when you have three kids by four different women and a serious meth addiction.

Caution: Beyond the band-loyalty stickers, look out for crumpled parole reports, old visitor’s passes from prominent penal institutions, and abandoned toothless children in the hatchback area. And if it smells like meth, it’s meth.

I don't know about that....

Um since when has a Camaro had a hatchback? I think the writer of that might be on some meth.

My choices are used Camaro in a couple years, or no Camaro at all. I'll take my chances.

They don't discuss the quality of the Camaro but rather the stereotype of the drivers. Pretty absurd if you ask me. Besides... people that think of a car as just a utility (Civic owners) are bound to take care of their car way less than someone who purchased their car for the HP, handling, and styling.

The reality is that most Camaro owners have not been the enthusiasts you describe as taking better care than Toyota/Honda appliance drivers. Stereotypes tend to be based in reality...mullet, anyone?

HEY DAMNIT!!! I like two of the bands he listed. No meth here for me, but Slayer is one of the baddest thrash metal bands around. They arent death metal....

The article kind of made me chuckle. I mean can you really honestly say that for every well maintained 80's Camaro- you haven't seen at least a few that would scare you to sit in?

Oh, I have seen MORE than my fair share of abused 82-02 Camaros in my days. Cars that I wanted to love but could not because they were too far gone to help. B&M shifters crudely cut into consoles (WHY???) headliners stapled up into the roof...leaving dents on the OUTSIDE of the car. Stereos cut into places that should not have stereos...mismatched noses from an 82 on an 88...stuff that made you RUN.

My favorite used Camaro story: I was looking for a Berlinetta back in '92 and found a rare '86 digital dash for sale north of Philly. Agreed to meet the guy at a prominant gas station to see the car that was described as spotless. Before the car showed up, I had already said NO. You could hear it SCREAMING as it came down the road - not in a good way. Turned out that the Idler pulley was sticking so the guy sprayed silicone spray on the belt to get it to stop squeeling. Didn't work! That was just one of MANY issues with the car (the replacement door, fender, nose and the wavy rear quarter that probably had three large cans of Bondo in it were major NO's!) - but sadly it was not the last of my "you have go to be kidding me Camaros" over the years.

Saddest: 1967 Bolero Red over black deluxe interior RS convertible 327 auto...completely rusted through - It went to the crusher, was used as a parts car.

Ok that article was entertaining to read, but what I have a problem with is that the first nine reasons were general warnings that can apply to all vehicles, then #10 is a deliberate jab at the camaro specifically. Yeah they mostly talk about the stereotype of the drivers, but still.

i bought an 87 5.0 HO Camaro, paid $1100 and its purpose was to be a daily driver, so i wasnt worried about some of its faults. after a few days of getting fed up with the radio losing the time and station memory, i took it to a friend of the familys that deals with interior and electronic stuff. come to find out when the previous owner put in the headunit, it was wired up with one of those long orange extension cords, just cut the ends off and wired it up that way.

oh and i didnt have the stapled up headliner, just the carpet was missing and i had spray painted foam up there
