FYI-
If you installed the Mace 25mm and Plenum spacer check the rear top Plenum bolt.
I installed my ported Im and spacers this weekend and noticed while at idle a noise like tapping. First thing i thought great i must have dropped something in the plenum cover because it was coming from there.

What I found out tonight is the noise i was getting inside the cabin with windows rolled up was the rear plenum cover bolt head hitting the metal right under the cowling. It was metal against metal due to the tight clearance.

I pushed up on the metal and used some deadmat sound deadener and noise disappeared. But the metal up alittle too. When you close the hood down thats when the hood pushes down on the metal causing it to vibrate thru the cabin..

Torque wrench with a 10-70ft/lb range is good. Keep in mind the wider the range, the greater the inaccuracy.

10mm socket for the plenum cover bolts should do it .

Also make sure that you guys properly used the gasket maker correctly. You could always buy another OEM plenum cover gasket and use it on both side instead of gasket maker. Chevy camaro gaskets are actually top notch. Better than most gaskets car makers use and been using.

I have 2 gaskets to use with the installation of the plenum cover as I bought a replacement manifold for porting - I was going to use the RTV on the plenum cover spacers though (the little cylinder shaped things that I got with the spacer itself as shown in post #376) - is that required?

Sorry to bring this back up but to what torque do the plenum cover bolts need to be tightened to? The IM was 18ft/lb but can't find/remember the plenum

So is this a worth while mod still? Not knocking anyone but seemed so many people jumped on board without any proven gains or usefullness when this originally came out. Not saying I'm expecting hp gains, I'm just wondering if it is even worth getting other than to add to a mod list.

18ft/lbs has been successfully used on the plenum cover but...
I snapped one oy my bolts when torquing to that level (it was a re-torque when installing a second time), and IMHO it may be more than necesssary for the 8 plenum cover bolts.

After that, I've been using 12ft/lbs without issue.

I also decided to do without the potential gains of the plenum spacer due to the height of the IM with my Mace 25mm. Just my preference (or laziness).

I don't know what the torque spec for the eight cover bolts is exactly, but 18lb-ft is excessive for an M6 bolt, IMO. I settled on 10lb-ft, and creeped up on it gradually. I wouldn't be surprised if it is 7lb-ft like the TB bolts. 18lb-ft is the spec for the six IM mounting bolts - they are M8. Just make sure the four spacers are in place when tightening those four M8s that pass through the cover. You'll crack the cover for sure - it's happened on here...
