A\C "now not cooling properly"
I received my car on June 4, #11488. Up untill now I have not had any problems. Yesterday when I got into my car,I turned the A|C to max cold, adn it seemed like it did not cool like it had been. It worked fine on our trip to Florida from here in Oklahoma. It eventually cooled down so I though it was the heat 100 degrees! This morning when I got into it it did the same thing, eventually cooling down, the outside temp was only 80 degrees. I called the dealer, and they stated there was not a service bulletin out for them yet (at least that problem.) He said to bring it in if it does it again. Anyone else had this problem yet? I have read about the drain plug issue.

I had the same problem with the fan would stop blowing air seeming like it was bogging down or something. Took it to the dealer- Ended up being low on refrigerant from the factory. All is good now.

Guys check the drain thing. Turn your car on, turn AC on Max. Turn fan on high, max sure recirculate is turned off. Look under your car after 5 minutes of running this way and see if it is dripping.
IF NOT Dripping. Take it to dealer and have them look up the service bulliten on the AC drain. It could be the collapsed groumet issue. The AC unit is now filling up with water and soon your fan will be throwing water around inside your car. |

My car was doin the same thing when I first got it. Now all seems to work well but the vent next to the drivers door is at least 15 deg warmer but the thing that confuses me is that the two vents next to each other in the center are 10 deg different. I guess I will call the dealer to see if this is normal. Oh just to let everyone know they almost replaced everything that has to do with my ac.

My A\C is making plenty of water and it is draining fine. It just does not seem like it is cooling as quickly as it used to. It is now taking about 10-15 min. for it to start cooling? Guess I will take it to the dealer.

I took my car to a different dealership and there is a problem and TAC cannot fix it. They thought it was the evaporator so they changed it. I am supposed to get a call tomorrow hey are going to get someone from Chicago come out and look at it. They tell me it is a gm engineer. I will keep all posted to the OP did you ever find out why yours was blowing warm?

Here is one bulletin for a no flow air condition:
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern: Some customers may comment that the blower produces little to no air flow through the HVAC vents with the AC on. This concern typically occurs during extended highway drive times. This may be caused by an evaporator freeze condition. Recommendation/Instructions: Check for signs of the compressor overheating. This can be identified by inspecting the label on the AC compressor itself. If the AC compressor experienced an overheat condition, the label on the compressor will have air bubbles underneath the label lifting it from the compressor. If this is found, replace the AC Compressor and flush the AC system using the ACR2000. For all vehicles with suspected AC evaporator freeze condition, REPROGRAM the Remote Heater and Air Condition Control Module with the latest calibration in TIS2WEB that states "New calibration to prevent evaporator freeze". Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. And this is one that GM put out for AC not cool: The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern: Some customers may comment that their AC does not appear to blow cold enough. This could be due to selecting the incorrect setting from the HVAC controls. Recommendation/Instructions: For Max AC operation, follow the instructions below. 1. Temperature must be set on the MAX position rather than being placed to the blue dot, There is an additional detent to the left of the blue dot labeled MAX. The temperature dial should be set on the MAX setting for best AC performance. 2. HVAC air-outlets are set to vent position (the face logo only- top button on left dial). 3. Blower is set to medium or higher (twelve o'clock position or greater). 4. Be sure the Snow Flake LED is illuminated. Last edited by Warr3nc; 09-20-2009 at 07:27 PM. |

I am having a similar issue. I drive a business trip that is roughly 200 miles and I have used my 2SS 3 times for this. First and second times, no problems. Third time, temps in the mid 80's and the stretch where it went out on was 70 and I keep it pegged on 75 with CC and it blows the A/C half way down the stretch. I felt water on my arms and then no cool air. I went to my dealer and the compressor is blown and they will do the new programming on the car on Friday. I have had a LS2 vette and an H2, and this is typical GM crap. Love the car, and its a keeper, but GM puts parts in their to fail on purpose IMO. Luckily its now and not 2 years from now.

Got a call from my dealership late today saying that I should come in for the "A/C reprogram" bulletin....
but I've not had a single problem with it, have done several long trips, high external temps in Georgia, highway driving, city driving and have never once had a problem with the A/C so I'm a bit hesitant to let them touch my baby. |
