I will say it's not to my taste but I very much appreciate you sharing this. I was considering attempting to do this but I'm not any good with actual 3d modeling. I can only hack things together with tinkercad. I ended up removing the bowtie and leaving the original SS badge in place.
Because it's an angled face, it won't look good face down after supports are removed. Tree supports don't take much material. I use Fusion360, took 30 min to develop each version.

Thanks!

I'd be inclined to try 2mm first. I'd also consider reversing the inside curve at the bottom of the S so that it curves down from the 90 degree corner instead of curving up from a corner the way it does now.

I guess I was just figuring you have to smooth it and paint it anyway. And less structure equates to faster prints. I have a budget grade printer so small things like that add up.
Sorry, I'm derailing the topic.

I modified the S so it looks like an S now. I see how the fillets were messing with the perspective despite being my way to give the appearance of italics. Now onto version 4. Version 3 lasted about 5 minutes and was never printed.

Here I've made the top and bottom 2mm taller to accommodate a return to make it look like an S. I've also modified the rear to incorporate clips so it should just snap onto the front grille.

Well, now you've departed from the original font altogether, and this one doesn't look better to me in any way, especially with those serif-like ends... I think the 6th gen slanted/italic design was superior, I'd take a step back to reevaluate.

(Then again, maybe my brain is just so used to it that it's now instinctively rejecting any modification.)

This is slightly taller, the S looks like an "S", and I'm starting the rear clip process (modifications still needed)

I'm happy with this S for now. I think the stock SS logo is terrible and a half-ass attempt with no reference to legacy, it's bothered me since day 1. I don't like how the slanted tails have to wrap around the bend for a center mount. I will not slant this, which is fine since it's just for me. I see this as the same as preference on color, stripes, wheels, trim, side badging, etc. I'm just not buying something that some one else made.

Size comparison. The bowtie is big.

There's only one pair of eyes that ultimately matters here, but I am on the same page as you. If I was departing from the current font style, I'd be looking at the 1st gen curvy S font. Either way, a nice custom upgrade for KHA's car!

So, I decided to develop a slanted emblem that is a scaled version of the stock style.

This is a quick mock-up, so it's not perfectly straight because there is no rear mounting bracket yet. I'm still considering overall size. It's easy to scale these. I'm also considering a design that doesn't have the wrap-around tails so they print easily and then it's just one model and not two.

I have tried printing face up and face down. Face down provides a better result because the other nozzle isn't being drug across the final surface so many times.

Face down is on the far right.

Designed in Fusion 360. The trick is the tails on the S that wrap around the front angle.

I'm also considering just making the outer shell and doing an epoxy in-fill for custom colors and a glossy appearance.

I get that a lot.

It's no taller than the bowtie. It is wider (obviously). And it's scaled from the original which is wide but very short. But the bowtie is deceiving in dimensions because you don't consider the height as the tallest portion but the sides.

This is why I liked my all black custom variant because it is a nice size/scale, it's not as wide as the bowtie, and it was a modern version of the classic letters.

So, then, I could deviate from the scale and proportions of the original and make a hybrid that is not as wide. I don't want it too small, because I think the factory version is too small.

I'll do whatever I want for my own version but I am taking feedback to keep tweaking for something that the collective may enjoy. Can't please everyone, but a large portion could be sated.
