Keep a good coat of polish/wax on them. And wash them often in the winter to keep the salt off and you will be fine.

well, for staters, they are not NOT chrome.......NONE of the STOCK wheels are chromed. the MIDNIGHT SILVER wheels are painted and clear coated. as are the Sterling Silver, AND the Polished wheels are clear coated as well. Just so ya know.......

Correct.

I was thinking he was getting aftermarket chrome wheels.

I was just at Rodgers Chevrolet and they had a RJT with chrome in the showroom, It almost swayed my decision on color. It looked great!

The manager of the dealership has them chromed and said
there is a 5 year warranty on the rims.

I am definitely getting the chrome wheels--I ordered the car with the standard RS wheels.

3 Problems with having your stock wheels chromed:

1) It costs $850 to have this done and you could just buy these same wheels brand new with chrome finish for about $950 shipped from Tire Rack or eBay.

2) You either have to be without your wheels for a couple weeks or put up a deposit.

3) I had this chrome plating done to the wheels on my last car and it came with a 5 year warranty, but when the chrome started peeling after 18 months, California Chrome denied my warranty claim because they said the finish must have been damaged by the weather elements. This is in the fine print of their warranty.

If you are considering having something chrome plated and you think the finish will be covered by a warranty, then I recommend you try this: call the chromer and tell them you had some wheels chromed there 3 years ago and there is a problem, then see how fast they tell you there is nothing they can do.

Initially, I ordered the polished alums on my 2SS/RS, but I changed my order when I decided that chrome was the look I wanted.

I did a chrome wheel exchange with ( http://www.uswheelexchange.com ). They guarantee their chrome wheels for 100,000 miles....even in Michigan's winter snow and salt conditions. Of course, I don't drive my car in the rain, much less in the snow...but that's another story.

That warranty speaks volumes on the durability and quality of these wheels...none of the West Coast chromers can match that.

I also got my wheels from USWHEELEXCHANGE.COM I am very happy with them. I did not pay $850.00. Try $675.00.

For those that live in areas with high salt in the air or on the roads they even offer a rim that protects the chrome harsh chemicals.

Sorry to hear that a camaro5 member had a problem with Calchrome.
I am a very happy customer and would recommend them to anyone.
The chrome is deep and the plating is the heaviest I have ever had done.
They do Jay Leno's chroming I figure they are good enough to do mine.
