Sixty? down here on the showroom floors they are 70-85k talk about markup for demand.

and the sick part is people buy them all day long at those insane markups.

and no it's really not that hard to break 200 anymore the cars now have sick amounts of HP. hell we have 6 750-1500rwhp GMs (4 Camaros and 2 CTSVs) in my small club alone all are capable of smashing 200 with no issues. Don't even get me started on 1000cc Sportbikes which have been capable for years lightly modified.

200 is not the barrier it once was.

Dodge claims the 392 Challenger can run 186-mph, I haven't seen it, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Bottom line is the car is going to walk away from the ZL1 in the top speed realm which is what Ford was aiming for I suspect.

Getting a car to run 200-mph safely is not as easy as backing up claims such as 1/4 mile, or 0-60 mph, there are not many venues around to test the claim.
actually quite a few now..
Texas Mile, Silver State Classic, closed state toll roads (Hennessey did this), manufacture test tracks, etc.

there are plenty of legal places to do top end runs in controlled environments.

Modified no, but the issue is with STOCK cars.

Gm says they ran their time: accept at face value
Ford says they went 200+: deny deny deny

And mine was 56,xxx with Recaros. I've seen ZL1s in the 70,000 range too, but I'm not using a markup to try to discredit a claim.

This.

The 4 digit rwhp cars usually do 60-180 pulls in Mex.

GM's claim was backed up by their in-car video of the run. You can still watch it if you want.

And I'm not sure Ford said they went 200+; I think they actually said the car was capable of 200 MPH. Either way, the reason why a lot of posters are denying the Ford claim until it happens is because that was exactly what the Ford fans said about the ZL1 in the quarter (that it couldn't possibly run 11's in the quarter because no one had done it yet). So it's mostly pay back.

Good point.

There was a lot of back and forth between the ZL1 and GT500. To poke some fun, a lot of members here said the ZL1 would be faster down the 1/4 mile Stock. GT500 is quite a bit faster.

ZL1 did have video proof of the 7:42 ring time, but, there were a couple of things that did put up red flags. I.E. roll cage, the tires, etc.

GT500 did manage high 190's in IIRC, Arizona heat when they attempted this. I personally think the car can do it. Just needs to be a cool day, not hot and humid.

Yes it does. Look at it again. It hits 325 km/h. Look at the smaller font.

325 km/h=201 MPH.

Don't think I see 200 but the car is still hauling the mail. top speed of my ZL1 as it sits is 186 and looks to be faster than that.

until there is either
A: radar from a state calibrated certified gun or laser ( Hennessey ZL1 had this)
B: GPS
the speedo has a large margin for error and is usually nowhere close on the topend.

I'm a Ford guy well before I'm any kind of Chevy guy..
6 Stangs and Cobras over the years and I'm very skeptical on this.
the speedo barely hits it and everyone knows speedos at high end are usually off by at least 8-10

Yeah there's branded blinded boys on every site but the pill is the biggest basher of the 5th gen on svtpp. Just thought it was funny to read some of the comments on the other site since even the op was joining in on the party. He was all happy because he was the one to post the video on here to "shut up the c5 guys" only to have it clearly backfire...op=

Yes, I know that. But when you look at the Bigger font it don't touch the 200 mark. Could be a bad production speedo. They should have used a GPS to verify.
