Good Monday morning all you ol' geezers and geezerettes. Get your grumpy on and lets go out and show 'em who's boss today.

I want to ask everyone a question.... Have you heard or observed that people, especially younger generation, refuse to purchase anything with coins? These folks feel it is beneath their dignity to use anything but bills or credit cards. When I heard about this I asked, "What do you do with the coins you get as change"? The response I got varied..... some said, "I throw it away". (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Others said they throw it in a jar and maybe someday they'll run it thru one of those change machines at the store. One kid said he "throws his change on the floorboard of his parents car"!

I'm dumbfounded. Is this a local phenominon? Is this nationwide? All I can say is yikes!!

P.S. LBM, get better! Damnit! j/k but seriously, I wish the best to you to get back to good health sweet lady.

Jay, think it's a young folks phenomenon. I rolled coins when I was younger, and I still save them. If I find money in the washer or dryer, I claim it and put it in my change jar. I do try to pay with bills and exact change. Think it confuses the young cashiers sometimes. I sometimes have to tell them how much they owe me

I'm a "young folk"...... and I do that, I dump all my change out of my wallet into a bag every day, then every few months I take it to the credit union and run it through the coin machine..... had about $80 last time..... learned it from my grandparents, when my grandma died a few months back, me and my grandpa took all her change she'd collected over the years to the bank..... a little over $7K!

But I bet it's not "beneath" you to use the change that's in your pocket to pay for something. These kids refuse to do that. They'd throw it away first! They won't even collect it in a bag or a jar. Makes me absolutlely crazy.

I tend to forget about it, then randomly take the change.... its quite a nice surprise though. I got no problem using change..... mainly cause I don't have any bills
