Hey all, Car came in on tuesday, Lots of stuff booked, ready and waiting to get put on. Will add them in as they come. Until then, heres the details,CGM 2SS/RS/ M6/MS Wheels, GFX on order/ Vin 9471 I have my tint booked for Monday (Limo tint rear window and side quarters. Doing the actual side windows is illegal in my province, so not gonna bother) 3M clear bra and stripes going on on Friday the 19th. I will provide lots of pics of that so people wondering how noticeable it is can see for themselves. Not 100% sure on rally stripe color yet, but they will be `bumblebee style`(Over Mailslot). Saw this pic today, made me pretty sure about the stripe color. Lemme know what you think about the combo. Peace out, and more pics probably on Sunday. Monday for sure after the tint. Not sure what all I am gonna do to this thing, but I am gonna try and keep it classy. We will see..... Thanks for checkin this out.

Got my tint put on today, went with 20%. Pics up in a bit, I just got off night shift so I need a nap, and the car needs a bath. Plus it is really ugly outside and might rain. Pics tonight or tomorrow.

Here's a few pics of it with the tint and a fresh wash, still a few drops on her, I need a new shammy
I went 20% instead of limo this time, just so I can see out the back when I reverse at night. 3M guard and stripes go on june 19th, so more pics then, cause I know some people want to see how the 3M looks on a car. |

Just my .02 on the 3M...
I had it on my E46 M3 and loved it...until the dealer curbed the front spoiler which damaged the 3M guard. I had to remove it in anticipation of getting it replaced. After the HOURS and HOURS of painstaking removal I decided NEVER to get another one installed again...it just wasn't worth the effort (I would rather bank the cash and have a professional touch up rock chips periodically). Using a heat gun separated the glue from the film...there was no 'easy' way to get it off. And I was not about to use some kind of solvent on the paint. This was the second time I had removed one...the first was on a buddies S4 which had started to yellow after about four years. That was even worse than mine as the film had become brittle and would break off every couple of millimeters. I thought mine would be easier because it hadn't aged and the film quality was improved (his was installed in 2000). I was dead wrong. Also...you have to be VERY, VERY careful about waxing. Do not get any material close to the edge as your invisible line will now have residue and become very visible. if you try and clean it, you run the risk of pushing up the edge which will expose some of the 'tacky' surface and then your really screwed. I don't want to talk you out of it...just make you aware of the additional 'challenges' that you will face...everyone has an opinon...and this is mine. |

Mossman, I appreciate anyone's feedback or opinions about stuff. Does not offend me at all. I have heard about most of these problems with the 3M guard, and for me the pros of no paint chips outweigh the cons.
Also just wondering if you have ever tried 'Goo-Gone'? It is a spray that I used to help take old decals off a few cars. I imagine if/when I have to replace the 3M, goo gone will make it a bit easier to get off. |

OK so it isn't a car mod, but it is a mod that lets me park my car. Here was today's handyman project:
Took a few hours, mostly cause I have very few tools, so I had to go buy a bunch of stuff. I drilled some holes in the curb, then put masonry anchors in the holes and then lag screwed (with washers on the screws so they don't rip out) the curb ramps to the curb so they don't move around or someone steals them. Cost me about 120 bucks, and well worth it cause now I can get the Camaro in the driveway!! Also driving around today, and I was gonna post and say I think my skip-shift is broken, but saw this in the DIC today. (Just realizing as I post this that it was a pretty brain dead move to take a picture while I drove, but if it's any consolation, I was on the highway by myself. Didn't see a car for about 30 mins) So I guess maybe my foot is just a bit heavy Better buy new lighter shoes tomorrow! Also, with all these posts about cars with 666 for mileage, thought I would show that my car is a bit religous, I guess: |

Stripes went on today, got them installed at Sharp Auto Trim, did a good job, a few bugs to work out, but VERY happy with the work they did. On to the pics:
Washing before 3M Clear Guard goes on Putting on the 3M Stripes Install: Outside Pics: (Tried to get different angles and lighting) Only thing we had a bit of mis-communication on was the side gills. I wanted a gradient, and he thought I meant the gradient spread over all 3 gills instead of resetting on each new gill. Doesn't look horrible, so I am thinking on it. Probably gonna get it redone though. |

HOLY SH!T those stripes make the car right there!
I LOVE IT! Then again, I'm kinda partial to that color combo...hehehehehe On the sides, I'd either do away with them all together or probably not have them go from lighter to darker. We talked about doing black on mine. But, we also thought that might get it going to be a bit busy. Just don't know what to think about the sides. How do you like the contrast of the silver on the gray? Personally, I LOVE the color combo. It's something I fell in love with on my wifes.....dare, I say, "Kia." Ever since then, I've always wanted the color combo on a sports/muscle car. Really, I love it. Looks freakin' killer. I'd love to take a pic or two of ours sitting side by side! |
