New way to remove sub frame bushings!
Hello everyone! I recently changed the rear sub-frame bushings on my Camaro. Many people suggested I use the method of heating the bushing and allowing the weight of the car force the bushing from the sub-frame. When I was thinking about this and watching videos of others doing this I didnt really think it was the right way to do it, and wasnt really comfortable with moving the car around like that with the rear end out. I triend BMRs suggested bash the hell out of it with a hammer method and that was verry innefective. So what i did was use the heat method with my own twist.
Tools required - 2 Jaw balancer puller (a set of 3 can be bought from harbour freight for fairly cheap) - 1/2" drive ratchet - Socket to fit on the balancer puller - Short extension that fits in the metal center of the bushings - Propane torch Steps - First you are going to want to place the small extension in the metal center of the bushing, this will help center the puller - Second, your going to want to put the puller on the extension, were using the puller to push the bushing out, opposite of its intended purose. - Third, use the ratchet and socket to get some light pressure on the bushing. - Fourth, start applying heat with the torch to the metal sub frame surrounding the bushing - As you apply heat, slowly tighten the puller, trying to keep it as verticle as possible, be aware if it gets a lot of angle. If it does start to go crooked stop, and re position and start again. I hope this helps! if you have any questions please ask them here or feel free to PM me!

Yes, I had to drop it to do some other bushings so I did everything with it out.

Looks way cleaner than using the cradle still in car way I did, got pretty smokey burning them out with just the weight of the car to push the bushings out

It worked really well. I think its a lot safer than using the weight of the car like many do! maybe this can become a sticky for future reference mods?
